Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India Programme. A beta version (http://digitallocker.gov.in) of the same has been released on 10th Feb. 2015, by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India.

Digital Locker is aimed at minimizing the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across agencies. The sharing of the e-documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with Government organizations or other entities.

Key features of the Digital Locker System are:

• 10 MB of free space in digital locker to residents to access their documents through Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and also securely store e-documents.
• e-sign online service to digitally sign documents

Residents are invited to use the Beta version of the Digital Locker System and provide suggestions and feedback on the same. Suggestions are also invited on the use cases for services which can be additionally provided by the Digital Locker System.

There is a very good live streaming website called webcast.gov.in,through which we may see channels like DD News,LSTV,RSTV etc. But I feel DD National,the flagship channel of our nation,should have been in live streaming.I do not understand why DD National Live streaming is not done.I would ask you Modiji to kindly ensure that Live Streaming of DD National is started very soon(preferably within a week).Please do it fast

While every other thing is getting digital in India, India Post is still a half baked cake! They have an online tracking system for speed posts, which is great. But one wonders why we can't have online service to PPF accounts - deposit, view balance etc. Today's population is mobile and keep moving from one city to another. And maintaining a PPF account with Post Office becomes almost impossible, as one has to visit that particular post office to deposit the money! Needs serious consideration.

I appreciate your work, but the land acquisition bill looks that government works for multimillionaire, industrialist , bureaucrats , not for general public . Think about downfall of Congress. The clauses are in the BILL is against HUMAN RIGHTS . By adopting this type bill, you shows that now your works is not for aam aadmi. Think properly you works is the same line of Congress. Your slogan SABKA VIKAS SABKA SATH . KHAS AADMI KA VIKAS AAM AADMI KA NASH.

In which servers the digital locker will be hosted? Hope in Indian srevers with no outsider access. Is the National data sharing and Access Policy 2012 as updated integrated with the digital locker to ensure that data and information gets shared responsibly with the total control being with the owner of the Data or the information who first feeds data in to the portal. I would like a responsible person in charge of the project to get in touch with me to discuss other important aspects of this.

Such Aadhaar based Citizen Portal should be mandatory for citizen as well as government through valid legal provisions so that a host of services can be provided that too combined with cost efficiency. The Citizen Service Portal should be based on XML so that it can be modified as and when required through grand-tabling of data wherein all type of services along with their parameters are properly tabulated for ease of recording, storing and retrieval.

Instead of separate service, the Digital Locker system should be one of the module of a Aadhaar Based Central Citizen Service Portal (ABC-CSP) wherein a citizen can apply and avail all type of state and central government services. Linking of this Digital Locker Module with overall Citizen Portal where in all type of certificates or approvals are issued online only that too with Digital Signature will remove corruption as well as allow government to efficiently manage every service.
