Smart Cities Mission is one of its kinds and does not follow a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Only a broad framework has been given to cities in which they have to conceptualize their idea of a Smart City and plan their pathway to ‘smartness’.

Ministry of Urban Development has so far selected 60 Smart Cities in various rounds and based on the Smart City Proposals submitted by Cities, this Ministry has started the process to set the standards for the Smart Cities in India. 16 key features have been outlined, which form the guiding framework for the development of Smart Cities in India. Cities have used this framework to determine their pathway towards ‘smartness’ in their SPVs. The framework includes criteria for Smart City features, induction and the benchmarks. Importantly, there are four stages defined in the pathway of Cities towards smartness. Starting with the baseline condition the Smart Cities will progress through the following stages -

• Level 1 – Base case where service levels are less than 50% of the prescribed benchmark
• Level 2 – Service levels are more than 50% of the prescribed benchmark
• Level 3 – Service levels are more than 75% of the prescribed benchmark
• Level 4 – Advanced stage where prescribed benchmark has been achieved

Co-creation of ideas, strategies, innovative and frugal solutions through an extensive consultative process with all stakeholders is mandated in the Smart Cities Mission Guidelines. Therefore, to finalize the standards for Smart Cities, this Ministry has decided to invite suggestions on the draft Standards. Citizen from all walks of life are welcome to be a part of the consultative process and provide valuable inputs. The last date of submission of suggestions is 20th December 2016.

In respect to demonatisation, I want to suggest that, the volume of cash found in search are very much, but it is only less than 1% of total, hence, large numbers of search or raid squard under income tax/ police / ED etc. should be created, further, as Govt. uses excise, customs,& VAT or Revenue staff in case of election searches, same format should be made under control of IT/ED/Police etc., ITO should be informed to complete time bared asstt. before 20 th, so,can involve in search, best wishes

Similar to (One Nation One Tax) we should have one law to govern our villages / cities. Without any political interference but with strict country planning experts and citizens participation. How is that indian engieers are heading global corporations and working with great teams across the world, because there is no intervention from govt or board. Merit comes before caste. If we dont have townplanning experts why cant we invite experts from abroad to build our cities? Why there is hesitant?

How do we make static cities, when urban mass is transient. The marginalised come and go, as per cropping season. The city cant call them homeless. They are workforce, beneficial to city. However city sustains on the beauty and character of the corporate, the industrial and the entrepreneur. India is a different story, and there is no other place like it inthe world. Needis to write our own paradigm, &create cities of the future. Transient, harmonious&inclusive for the myriad types that inhabit it

First and foremost let us make our cities livable. Smartness follows next. Can any of us spend any time in thinking how cities were managed in 1960-70. All municipal councils were working with no technology support and without any gadgets. People used to have sense of working and keeping our cities clean. Now sheer corruption have made unlivable city to prosper under political/ bureaucratic nexus. How is that we cannot clear Dharavi slums? We all know we cannot because we are not clean.

What are cities? Beyond parks, buildings & urban infrastructure, it is a magnet for growth and excellence. Many move in for a better life and better opportunities. In the development plans of the smart cities, i see the conception of urban form for the haves. However if we plan a city for the haves, the havenots will any way come in and then the stress on periphery begins. it is important to plan and allocate space, build for informal and migrant mass, hold dreams, grow and evolve as time passes.

It should be made mandatory to all petrol and gas stations to have toilets drinking water and rest rooms all along the highway as well as in cities. This will make the people on the move to utilise the facility without searching for the same during travel. This will also push forward the swach Bharat mission. In India the petrol stations are penetrated through the rural areas even

V. Matram Modiji, Dec. 17th (instead of Dec 30th), may now be the deadline for depositing demonetized notes in A/c. Jan-Dhan A/c holders must share useful information about b. money owners, who approached them for depositing their money, as this deposit facility is now being misused by black-marketeers. Genuine persons have already deposited old notes in A/c. A toll free no must be introduced, to enable people register their grievances, & share confidential info on b. money owners/holders.
