Dear all, We Indians are very generous and donating huge amounts to religious centers and government also encouraging it by giving income tax exemptions. In India all government schools, colleges and universities are facing finance problems and unable to provide basic facilities. The donations to government institutes and centers by the alumni and by any others should be exempted under 80 (G) if income tax.In my view it generates huge amount by which many institutes provide minimum facilities.

In countries like US most of the R&D funding comes from Industry. This is not visible Indai. Govt should take leadership in promoting institue-industry partnership. We Indians are generous in donating wealth to temple but not educational institute. The habit of donating to institutes should be fostered in India.

Instead of providing scholarship to economically sound SC/ST students, we should have a mechanism to identify needy SC/ST student and groom them with all kinds of assistantship.

Govt should move out of higher and professional education field. Private educational universities / institution should take care. Govt. should have it's role in conducting examinations and evaluation. Needy students should be able to get loan from Banks with Govt. guarantee. Defaulters of loans to be used as captive professionals by government till repayment is over and freed.
