India is the World’s second largest producer of Fruits & Vegetables. However, the processing of perishable products in our country is very low, in comparison to the developed countries or developing countries like China, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. One of the main constraints in the growth of processing of fruits & vegetables in the country is non-availability of modern and suitable infrastructure with efficient supply Chain. Consequently, there is very high level of wastage of the fruits & vegetables in the country resulting in the farmer not getting adequate remuneration for his yield. A study conducted by Central Institute of Post Harvesting Engineering Technology (CIPHET), Ludhiana, an ICAR institute, reveals that wastage in various agricultural crops in the country range from 6-18% and the highest loss has been shown in fruits and vegetables.

Ministry of Food processing Industries invites views/ suggestions for reduction of these losses.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 1st February 2015.

One injection of procaine penicillin is useless by itself. Give as few injections as possible. Don’t touch the end of the needle before injecting. Don’t wipe the needle even with spirit swab. It is wrong to do so. Children having sulfonamides must drink plenty of water. Be cost conscious while using drugs. Give iron for at least 3 months.

Share following with all and health improves automatically.3 Dose depends on weight of the child. Doctor & mother both should have the same size of spoon in mind. One teaspoon is 5 ml. One ml gives 20 drops. Shake the bottle before giving medicine. Give antibiotics for minimum 3 days. Many drugs used at a time are harmful. First dose of a medicine should be given in the clinic before the mother goes home. One injection of procaine penicillin is useless by itself.

Injected medicines are more dangerous than oral. Use antibiotics only when really needed. Antibiotics are useless in viral diseases like common cold, diarrhoea, measles, infective hepatitis and mumps. They do more harm than good. Right duration of treatment is as important as Right dose of a medicine.

Share following with all and health improves automatically.1 Right and Wrong Uses of Modern Medicines.Tell all.Share with all Use a drug only when really needed, and when you know how to use it. There is some danger in use of any medicine. Medicine is a double edged weapon. Most diseases are self limiting Nature cures them. Drugs are rarely required. Medicines like bullets, can hurt, if fired indiscrimately. A person who eats well does not require extra vitamins.

Sir, we should learn and adopt to supply chain model of companies like Tesco and walmart . They are not doing any thing different, they are just doing there basics right. A complete turnaround is required from farms to market level, with real time time inventory and tracking management.

We should have a Government-owned collection system for the waste and abandoned materials in public and private places for each and every material and to take it for recycling in an Eco-friendly manner. They should clear daily domestic waste, industrial waste, bio-waste, vegetable market waste, slaughter waste, ditch and drainage waste, plastic, bottle, iron, metal, flux, Posts, pipes, frames of advertisements and condemned automobiles (whatever parked or seen in encroached public places).
