Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

as one of the person has mentioned agri banking and that is of prime importance. They are the backbone of India. They are at the mercy of Money lenders leading to suicide, murder etc. agri banking must be interlinked with storage of produce by the Intermediary of banking so that funds are kept safe. Purchasing power delivered to ( loan) to farmer gets converted to farm produce which is again sold to public and and their purchasing power is routed back to bank.

An analysis titled “Reviving the Holy River Ganga” has made some recommendations (R-13.2, R-16 & R-17 (C)) fourth dot point) which are highly pertinent to farming/agriculture/farmers. As only three of the recommendations made in this analysis are directly applicable to farming/agriculture/farmers we have not attached a PDF copy. An analysis titled “Reviving the Holy River Ganga” can be found by clicking on the following link: https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/f7e4ced8-b304-409e-ab55-15ff28bbfb

Attached is a strategic analysis into “India’s Food Security 2050 and Beyond” (dated 29 March 2014). Some of the recommendations stemming from this analysis are highly relevant to the topics discussed. Please note - although some numerical data/statistics are dated (e.g. population density and average cost of an Indian wedding meal, etc. ) they have no impact on the recommendations. A copy of this analysis can also be found at: https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/2e94dea7-2b03-4720-b80c-5a251666

My suggestion to modi sir that in agriculture lots of money funded by governmentgovernment for agriculture research but no proper technology developed by them , in Gujarat agriculture universities research is only for publication. In a superior journals , but no one think for commercialization of the technology, if technology not reahes to end user so why westing lost of money behind them , utilize these amount proper projects for agriculture development and commercialization

Smart farming means Low cost farming , with the help of reducing the use of fertilizers, pesticide and fungicide, use organic inputs for that, use maximum use of biofertilizer , biopesticides and biofungicide for long term sustainability and health of soil, now soil is not fertile because EOF chemical use, agriculturist such as agronomist and entomologist suggest the chemical side. Develop costveffective technology for farmers to reduce sucide cases in india .

create a understanding and a database of the soil kinds and land types, map availability of other resources like electricity, water and labour. Given these parameters look at what crops can be grown. Also incorporate the weather forecasts. Inform the farmers. Teach them about crop rotation, step farming etc. ie the best practices for their lands and chosen crops. Empower them to make informed decisions!!

Organic and traditional methods for farming ,this increases out put and good for health . Avoid poison to kill pesticide in farm , this use traditional method for that this will increase soil quality and increase life span , pesticide free food , we can save dollar if we avoid multinational product . Me tested this method in my home town Kerala and success in this .Now I am spreading my message through social media to understand the benefit of traditional farming method . siju k s 9811905204

Start by collecting different data like moisture content of soil, temperature, what is the suitable amount of pesticides etc with sensors at different stages of farming from sowing to reaping. This will result into large database and by mining it relevant info can be gathered. Using sensors all threshold values of this parameters can be maintained and farmers can be updated about the drastic increase or decrease in this parameters and for example if moisture decrease automatic irrigation begins.

I believe that in reality what really matters is "EXECUTION" that's it. 1. We have to fill AWARENESS in our farmers mind at village level. (Input) a. We have to change their mindset and should show a path which leads to better profit. b. We have to showcase the total effect and profit of the SMART FARMING.(We can not expect a farmer to scratch his head over applying the 'IoT TechStuffs' into his work, It's highly unrealistic.) 2. Once the step 1 is implemented 90% of the WORK is DONE...!
