Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

Sir, Water is so precious & we are getting second highest rainfall(117cm) in the world and Isreal is getting average of 20cm rainfall. But we are learning water mangement technics from them. we are failuring at management level. we are using water bottles even from least rainfall area(250mm) to highest rainfall area (6000mm). Hence purest rain water can be harvested in the least rainfall area, Minimum area roof with 2400lit under ground storage within the home.Details attached.

#SmartWaterManagement, #SaveWater,#IoT, #MyGov, @Manivannan_RMS Normally with advancements in Water Metering, IoT,suggestions would flow to measure and monitor use / supply of water. That should be mandated indeed, but before that, a complete Geophysical scan (GIS) on water passages to all the rivers, rivulets, streams, steamlets, Lakes, Ponds (Nevertheless they themselves) should be located and all the blockades, intrusions, constructions on these water passages to be cleared with strong will

Following need to be changed in our way of acting: > Big ideas are often hard to implement & prone to personal interests. However, if we are able to turn it into direct personal benefits, they'd be more interested. --> Promote production and sale of sensor based tap --> Discourage water throwing pipes > Nothing works better than mandating simple tasks. If it is mandatory and there is no loophole in it. --> Mandate rainwater harvesting & solar water heating in all new building projects

1. Water should be made available in more portable form by putting in place equipment such as treatment plants and other latest technology based machinery for checking the purity and regular availability. 2. Meters should be installed at each distributable point in order to assess the out flow and the quality of the water. 3. Local water storages should be created for better management of available resources. 4. More contract personnel be engaged for monitoring the flow/quality of water.

Sir, Some points are: 1.Water treatment plant in cities for recycling the water used. 2.Rain water harvesting 3.Water level monitoring, channelizing to prevent floods providing water to the deficit areas. 4.Elevating roads so that the rain water can flow to the side canals with percolation instead of accumulating in the potholes. 5.Instead of fresh water sprinkling on to plants in parks or gardens the effluent sprinkling system can be used

Good morning sir, In respect of save water, we must ensure that the water available will be retained by us. For this at least we make sure that all the parkings or cemented premises of govt and pvt sector's will practically follow the rain water harvesting specially in delhi city. I am not suitable for checking the reason why is not following but I can observe it. Be practical rather being on paper sir. You can check CGHS helth center dilshad garden and UCMS & GTB HOSPITAL premises in delhi
