Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

In towns and cities people from outsides face drinking water problem . Hence there should be provision of drinking water at each important locations viz. bus stand, market places, parks, petrol pumps, important Chowks may at 2 km distances in PPP mode.In our country there are hundreds and thousands peoples who are willing to contribute. If local Urban bodies will advertise for donation of filter or filter cum cooler with donor's name, then lot of willing people will come forward for donation.

#IOT: We have to tackle the water crisis on a war footing. On principle, inter-linking of rivers is a good idea. But linking of inter-state rivers is fraught with many problems. SYL canal is a classic example. It started in 1982, but a solution is nowhere in sight. Because, states don't follow a give & take policy. I feel, it is better to link intra state rivers with minimum environmental destruction. It is not prudent to spend hundreds of crores only to see the projects not being completed.

We must value water and its sources and stop contaminating them.We must plant trees in plenty and stop felling of trees for road widening. On either sides of All national high ways etc we should plant trees for environment.A tree and a water harvesting system for a house should be made mandatory.Stop plastic, polythene dump to let water go into the earth easily.Stop digging out small hills as they help clouds to rain. Minimize the apartment constructions and they must harvest water and leave space

SIR IT WOULD BE MORE BETTER IF WE AFFORESTATION AT A RAPID RATE IF IT WOULD ME MORE TREES THEN MORE RAINFALL AND ULTIMATELY REFILLING OF GROUNDWATER.THERE ARE ALSO OTHER BENEFITS OF AFFORESTATION SUCH AS REDUCES POLLUTION,PREVENTS SOIL EROSION HENCE REDUCED RISK OF DRAUGHT,REDUCED EARTHQUAKES,MAINTAINING OF TEMPERATURE ETC SO IT WOULD BE BETTER SOLUTION TO PLANT MORE AND MORE TREES EXCEPT GOING FOR DEFORESTATION ONLY.GOVERNMENT SHOULD POLICIES TO MAKE AWARE PEOPLE ABOUT OUR DEGRADING ENVIRONMENT

As regard to PM krishi Sinchaee yojana, it is observed that District irrigation Plan is being prepared hurriedly in Odisha .Officials of one district is given responsibility of another district for planning.Hence, atleast 3 months time should be given for preparation of DIP.Officials of each block should be entrusted with block irrigation plan and District collector should be involved for proper monitoring of DIP.As DIP is very very important for future planning of water resources.

Suggested thoughts:1.Water table in ground should not be depleted with excessive bore drilling 2. Waste water from industry, apartments, commercial buildings should be recycled and the usage of same can be for non drinking & cooking. 3. Lakes, water tanks, small pools, reservoirs in villages should be conserved & their numbers must multiply. 4. seepage of water as waste from sumps, canal, storage tanks should be avoided 5. Drip irrigation, sprinklers should be used for agricultural purposes.

1)CONNECT RIVERS OF NORTH AND SOUTH URGENTLY. 2)FINANCE FARMER LIBERALLY FOR FIELD WATER STORAGE EXPENSES. 3)PROVIDE WATER TANKERS WHERE THERE IS SCARCITY. 4)PROVIDE SOLAR ENERGY PLANTS TO ALL OVER INDIA BY GOVT EXPENSES.

Subject- rerooting back of the overflow water. Sir, a very small thing I see in most other houses where an electric pump motor is used to extract or pull underground water, I see a large wastage of water due to overflow either due to irresponsible behaviour or technical fault. It would be very beneficial if we could also attach a rerooting pipe to boring pipes to collect water from overflow orifice of each tank. We can insert a small re rooting pipe in space between bore hole and GI pipe.

its a very small thought though but it could be helpful in the long term, we should try to practice drinking water by filling only half glass and not full glass, because u must have observed that drinker only takes a small sip and then the rest of the water is wasted, i know it is a very small try..but who knows...boond boondh se hy to sarovar banta hai, so leaving macro issues to the government, we should try this micro level practice at home...jai modi, jai hind
