I feel water testing facilities in our country is not easily accessible to common man. Hence awareness about water quality and conservation needs to be popularized in our country.

Every town instead of polluting water bodies by leaving sewage water it should be recycled.
Flooding rivers should to be diverted to dry areas at least during over flow time.
Rain harvesting should be implemented seriously.
Assets which uses more than a specified quantity water should implement recycle of water.

1) linking of all rivers should be on priority, every year we suffers either due to drought or floods.
2) compulsory rain water harvesting in all buildings
3) eco toilets (minimal use of water)
4)all industries should recycle their effluents & then let it in the rivers
5) household should use minimum utensils to cook & eat

its really a big problem and can be a disaster if preventive measures will not be taken as we can see in case of Latoor and Punjab-haryana case.we need to adopt measures to recycle used water on a large scale, like a society can treat water and resupply to use it again. lets restrict water supply in areas for a day or occasionally to make them aware about its scarcity. Just like Swachta Abhiyan, we can have "jal Jagriti" but need to force it. we can't live w/out Pure water & air.
