Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

We can't just create water for agriculture. If the wastewater generated by all the cities be collected and recycled, this will be enough to supply water to all the farms. The sewage water must be used for irrigation.

Rain harvesting to be done on large scale by govt in places of water scaracitybytaking into consideration topography.6"Borewell to be drilled to a depth of 30/40 feet and on top a container about 1 mtr containing pebbles and sand bed to be placed flush with ground level .The location should be in such a way that water accumulates during monsoon and gets into the well care to avoid oil contamination.cluster of borewells drilling with min costs ,and containers could be mass produced

A big lake should be designed for each city. Separate deep pipeline to harvest rain water into nearest lake. Design the city in such a way that no heavy rain should stop city life.

1.RO manufacturing companies should be asked to develop the new technology in which they is "NO" discharge of waste water after the purification. Because it is one of the major draebacks of ROs,which results in water wastage. 2.Same can be asked for companies like bisleri ,coke etc. 3.All factories should be asked to release treated water back to the rivers.

#SaveWater: The government is planning for smart cities. So due to increased construction area, no place for water to seep in soil which in turn goes in deficiency of water in smart cities. So rain water harvesting for all buildings will be an effective solution to have ample water in summer. Unless and until we make it compulsory, people will not be aware.

It would be better if we are able to connect all the rivers across the country for a drought free india. The swachh bharat idea marks the first steps for a green infrastructure.Globally, around 32 billion cubic meters of water is lost due to water loss (NRW) per year.Hence we need to have smart meters for controlling the water flow like Advanced Metering Infrastructure(AMI)

We need to consult developed country for how they provide drinking water through direct water tap. Some website or mobile app to raise water issue like water leakage near your area, impure water.
