In western countries, post offices sell stationary as well. If we do that, it will help generate funds for the postal system. And also increase the convenience for customers. The stationary should be sold at market rates or above so that it helps generate funds.

Post Office network is huge, and can be tapped for outreach of several public services:
* IT for public (merge with CSC infrastructure)
* Primary healthcare (routine medicines distribution/ Awareness drives)
* Marketing and Selling of Handicrafts
* Skill development sessions - eg usage of tools through animations

DearSir, I am staying in Bengaluru more than 9 years. It is India's largest software hub but with poorest of the poorest infrastructure. No proper roads, No traffic control measures, Huge jams everywhere. Very rude and rash autowalas. Cost of leaving is very high for a normal middle class person like me but with poorest infra. BMTC Volvo buses has huge ticket prices and they never decrease the price. Need good infra and better governance for better life of common man

The biggest problem is our management skills are not good. Take an example of a profit oriented corporate company. The service they provide, the quality in their product. Who will i contact in case if my shipment gets missed from post? I have to roam around offices for hours. Government has to realiase that post card days are over with Emails and Internet. They can make it as a courier service for delivery of goods.

The Governement can make huge profits and make utilization of the money if they make contracts with Online Shopping companies like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra and so many others.

With increased online purchasing. For example yesterday flipkart has almost sold 1 billion products. Indian Government can make contracts with these Online websites and deliver the goods instead of private courier companies. The goods should be trackable and there should be a customer care number for any correspondence.

The government should endure that the post is able to deliver the goods safely like private courier services ( blue dart and dtdc) Government should introduce online tracking of goods. Number of offices has to be increased. I have to travel a lot of distance to post something as it is far in the city.

In order to improve service of post offices in India; government should study some other countries post office services like Singapore http://www.singpost.com/
Although our post office also offer more services than these countries like insurance, saving account, and Kisan Vikas Patra and all but need better efficiency and accountability.
