For delivering various Citizen centric services and furthering the reach of Financial Services including Insurance, the Government of India has set up a Task Force to examine and recommend efficient utilisation and upgradation of the Post Office Network, enabled with Digital/Internet Connectivity to rural Offices and outpost areas enabling reach of different services in rural areas. This Network is also being viewed as a distribution channel to retail various schemes and services of Central Government, State Government and Private Sector Players.

Through this discussion the Department of Posts (Ministry of Communications & Information Technology) seeks suggestions on the following:

•    To provide efficient postal network and points of presence [particularly in rural areas and small towns] to Central Government Ministries / Departments, State Governments [including Local Self Government] and private sector players for delivering various citizen-centric services, scheme, products to the people.
•    To further the role of Post Offices in Financial inclusion, including Insurance products
•    The infrastructure requirements of the Post Offices and the Postal Network
•    To make the Post Offices financially viable

Last date for sending your suggestions is 30th November, 2014.

cont.. 2. post offices are already providing ticket booking and passport services which can be further improved. I once booked a ticket in Mokokchung, post office in Nagaland, due to some official reason I had to cancel the trip and post office is the only option to book tickets there. when i went for cancellation the booking clerk started shouting and refused to cancel saying he has better things to do and u should plan properly before booking and my ticket amount was lost eventually.

cont.... additional facilities: 1. banks are been asked to open in unbanked areas so as to provide banking to all indians, opening a new bank is a costly affairs, however if post offices can be converted to full pledged banks it will automatically cover a large area in no time, banks will take atleast 5 years to cover the whole nation, for this some existing bankers may be taken on deputation basis and some new work force may be added. this can be done atleast in rural and semi urban areas,

in continuation... however we can utilise this large network for greater benefit to the society and country as a whole. for which some immediate steps need to be taken. like 1. Hiring of young, dynamic work force with good understanding of technology and economy. 2. give VRS to those employees who can not change themselves to the latest environment. 3. Converts post office to multi facility centre where several facilities can be provided under one roof some of which are already been provided

post offices have there presence all over the country, even in the remotest part. I have served in states of northeast remote areas where still post offices are the only reliable mode for sending and receiving important documents. However in other parts of the country it is loosing its relevance due to following reasons: 1. no change in technology according to time thus outdated. 2. Low accountablity for post office staffs for delay and loss of documents. 3. unfriendly attitude.

if they open fire on one post w should open fire on two posts if they fire at three posts we should fire at four posts. Despite its economy in doldrums the kootneeti of Pakistan with regards to Kashmir is superior to ours. Why can't we be aggressive? We should claim the POK and ask Pak to give it back. I think a strong response is urgently needed. It is also denting your image of a strong PM. Pak has to seek loan from ADB where I think we can block it. The loss of life our countrymen not accpted
