In December 2014 the United Nations declared 21st June as ‘International Day of Yoga’ after 177 nations across all continents of the world co-sponsored a resolution seeking the same.

When the resolution was adopted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense joy on this and said that Yoga has the power to bring the entire humankind together. It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had mooted such an idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2014.

You are requested to provide inputs on the following aspects relating to the marking of the first ever ‘International Day of Yoga’.

(1) How can the ‘International Day of Yoga’ be celebrated at the UN forum?

(2) Suggest creative ways in which the ‘International Day of Yoga’ can be celebrated at the world stage.

(3) What are ways in which we can mark the ‘International Day of Yoga’ across the length and breadth of India?

Best inputs and suggestions would be sent to the Prime Minister himself and would also be utilized.

Yoga is best way 2 keep body helthy. But i think people should go with yoga willingly and not by force. Unless and untill people go for it,govt can't do anything.

Sir... First of all we should aware yoga fully in our country itself, for that the best way is through schools and colleges. The students are the best way to change the whole people of a house... so one compulsary subject should be implemented. If we attract the students then the family members will be automatically on that path.when all indians become to do yoga... foreigners automatically does yoga...and slowly slowly we should attract govt emplyees for weekly one day compulsary yoga

Excellent effort and idea from our PM . Now so much diseases are there. We almost expend half of the earnings in puchasing medicines. Yoga keeps us away from several health issues. I also think if yoga can be an optional subject in schools colleges. More campaigning is needed to make people aware of the fact specially for the youth. Pls look into the matter if there is any scope to make yoga a valuable part of life. And thank you for your small but very very effective step
