The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), in collaboration with MyGov, invites comments and suggestions from stakeholders and the general public on the draft accessibility standards for the Services Sector. These draft standards, which identify non-negotiable rules, have been prepared to strengthen the creation of barrier-free environments in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and relevant rules.

All interested individuals are requested to carefully examine the proposed standards and submit their feedback, comments, and suggestions on the MyGov platform, ensuring that personal details are entered accurately during registration.

Improve accessibility in rural areas by increasing availability of assistive technology and bridging the urban-rural gap. Train rural healthcare workers and collaborate with local NGOs for outreach. Ensure affordable options and promote awareness about assistive technology. Address unique rural challenges and develop rural-specific solutions. Involve rural communities in design and development. This will promote inclusivity and equality for persons with disabilities in rural India.

Improve access to assistive technology within all development sectors. Ensure safe, effective and affordable assistive products. Enhance workforce capacity. Involve users and families in the entire assistive technology access pathway. Raise public awareness and combat stigma regarding assistive technology. Invest in data-driven policy. Foster research and innovation. Develop enabling environments that benefit everyone involved in assistive technology. Include assistive technology in humanitarian responses. Strengthen international cooperation on assistive technology.

Factor the complexity of the specific assistive product a person's health condition and needs the environment where the product will be used the user's experience with the product

Factor Has the individual grown? Does the product no longer work for them because of this? Has the individual's posture changed? Does the product no longer work for them because of this? Are there any screws or bolts that are loose? Is there any rust or are there broken pieces?
