India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover

The Green life Plant it... Worth it..... Trees are more important than people. They help to make and feed the world. They make rain and builds the soil. Three trees placed strategically around a single-family home can cut summer air conditioning needs by up to 50 percent. By reducing the energy demand for cooling our houses, we reduce carbon dioxide and other pollution emissions from power plants. Shade from trees slows water evaporation from thirsty lawns. Most newly planted trees need only few litres of water a week. As trees transpire, they increase atmospheric moisture. The beauty of a well-planted property and its surrounding street and neighborhood can raise property values by as much as 15%.

Cont'd----Western coast will be the shortest route to African & Gulf countries. Suez canal can give access to European,South & North American countries.Once upon a time there was a flourishing trade from western ports. We need to produce quality goods to capture the market from Chinese in most of these countries. With select goods which we are good at. There is no point in compiting in low value goods even though quantities maybe large. We should concentrate on food, pharmaceutical, engineering, textile, iron & steel, plastics, electrical, electronics which can create large employment. Sea shipments are always cheaper compared to road. Chinese have relatively small coastline for their large exports. They move lots of goods through land at higher costs.Use our coastline more efficiently saving energy & time in logistics. In a scientific way with green concepts in mind.

R-4/5 Renewable & recover is a challenge as we are in a tropical zone with forests, mountains, rivers, dams & a large coastline. Every aspect becomes sensitive like highways, railway lines, transmission lines, petroleum & gas lines, water pipe lines, telecommunication lines, wind mills etc. Apart from this some useful minerals are in thick forests. For fastest growing economy expansion of these projects become a hurdle in fast clearances. We need to form certain corridors which can have combined highways, railways, pipe lines, transmission & telecommunication lines side by side through forest to inland from coastline. Our coastline on west side has mountain ranges on major portion from 10 to 80 km from the sea shore. The western side needs to be stronger with highways, railways to the eastern coast and inland to transport all types of goods. For both imports & exports. Western coast will be the shortest route to African & Gulf countries. Suez canal can give access to European, contd ----
