India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover
6. Re-design
7. Re-manufacture

Few examples for the above:
Reduce - Electricity, Fuel Usage
Reuse - Old Clothes, Electronics, Building materials, furniture
Recycle - Plastic, newspapers, cartons, boxes
Renewable - Solar, Wind, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal & Biomass
Recover - Forests, rivers, soil, mountains, wildlife
Redesign - Green buildings
Remanufacture - E-waste for new purposes

Our civilisational values have taught us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Today, let’s come together to protect our environment & take forward Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment.

Make sure your big purchases have big environmental benefits. Make sure your big purchases have big environmental benefitsNot everyone can run out and trade in their old gas-guzzling clunker for the latest planet-friendly hybrid car. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing; manufacturing new cars takes a lot of resources too. But if you’re in the market for a new car, look for a fuel-efficient model — you’ll save thousands on gas money and reduce your carbon footprint over the years. If you’re buying a new refrigerator, washer or dryer, look for the Energy Star label to find the most efficient appliances. Need a new water heater? Consider upgrading to solar. Learn more about fuel economy standards and then compare the gas mileage for new cars.

1. Think twice before shopping. Think twice before shopping“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” may feel retro, but it’s just as important today as when the phrase was first coined. Every product we purchase has an environmental footprint, from the materials used to create it to the pollution emitted during manufacturing to the packaging that ends up in landfills. So before you buy, ask yourself if you really need it. If you do, consider buying gently used instead of new, and look for minimal packaging and shipping. Watch The Story of Stuff and learn more about the zero waste movement.

This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. We recognise that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan. We are resolved to free the human race from the tyranny of poverty and want and to heal and secure our planet. We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets which we are announcing today demonstrate the scale and ambition of this new universal Agenda. They seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what these did not ac

government should create ecommerce site for eco friendly products, organic farming products. such product would produced, processed and packed eco-friendly way. there is need of promoting such a shop chains which would include all eco friendly products including their eco-friendly packeging. this will create direct competition between , eco-friendly products like cloths vs. synthetic cloths. This would create cut throat competition and support for eco-friendly products. Pm himself can play important role. celebraties themselves can declare that they will now onwards will use only eco-friendly products only and will become brand ambassador of such shops only

Government can consider give some concession in property tax if anyone the house has Solar power and rain water harvesting system properly installed. This will encourage many people constructing new house to install Solar Panels and RWH system properly. This should be made mandatory in all new multi storied apartments and flats developed by property developers. Illegal mining of sand in river beds and illegal stone quarrying should be banned completely across India. A law to prevent illegal mining and quarrying must be made to protect our environment. Unused and unclaimed vacant lands can be used to grow tree saplings to unemployed youths for contract period. Government can engage unemployed youths in villages to grow saplings 25% of the saplings grown should be given to Forest Department 25 % for free distribution and remaining 50% they can sell it for public and take it. This will give an opportunity for local villagers without any education to work and earn. Jai Hind 🇮🇳
