India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover
6. Re-design
7. Re-manufacture

Few examples for the above:
Reduce - Electricity, Fuel Usage
Reuse - Old Clothes, Electronics, Building materials, furniture
Recycle - Plastic, newspapers, cartons, boxes
Renewable - Solar, Wind, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal & Biomass
Recover - Forests, rivers, soil, mountains, wildlife
Redesign - Green buildings
Remanufacture - E-waste for new purposes

Our civilisational values have taught us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Today, let’s come together to protect our environment & take forward Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment.

"If you cannot grown on land grow on rooftop and walls" All the government, corporate, society building should use their rooftop to grow tress and plant. It should be made mandatory for all rooftop be green. The amount of area used on land for construction on ground now can be replace by the green land on rooftop. It will help not only increasing green area but increase beauty of area. It will help in lowering air pollution. Rain water will be automatically used. It will lower the requirements of number of airpurifiers and air conditioner. Sewage water generated in society n office can be recycle to use in these plants after little treatment. Walls of building can be used for vertical gardening. Boundary wall should be covered with creepers which can cover both side of wall without much effort. Like government nursery, corporate can also create corporate nursery where people can buy plants on low cost to plant on their work station and at home.

I do many things first and foremost is 1) Running the water purifier on my when we need drinking water. So instead of running it 24 hrs a day we now run it only for 10 minutes a day. 2) we use washing machine only twice a week and optimise washing clothes. So we save water and electricity both. 3) we run air conditioning only in one room and at 28 degrees. 4) I walk to the market. Don’t use car ever. 5) kids in my relatives home use the RO waste water to water their plants. Their parents have taught them. The waste water goes in a huge container from where the kids take water for watering the plants.

Government should seriously consider to action on those who sell adulterated petrol and diesel. Heavy fine should be put the vehicles and lorries which emits black smoke and cause air pollution. Every Six months the heavy vehicles and lorries should get Smoke Emission test and get certificate. All Petrol Bunks should be checked by squads to prevent selling adulterated fuel. Vehicles using noisy horns which cause noise pollution should be fined. The Government should instruct all Automobile Sellers should not fix any modified horn system and fix it. Likewise flashy head lights and colour LED light should not be used in any bus or in load vehicles. During darkness heavy brightness from these lights cause disturbance to the drivers coming from the opposite side and cause accident. Old and discarded rubber tyres and tubes, car seats and other unused items should be safely disposed instead of throwing it in open space. Metal scraps should be segregated and it should be recycled.

Environmentally sustainable future requires multi dimensional approach. It too requires inter governmental co- operation , becoz devastation of natural resources in an area have consequences in farther places that is proven by today's climate change consequences some of the key areas which we need to focus are: 1) PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION: For instance, we need to empower grama sabha by giving adequate quasi judicial functions. This requires political will to amend the Constitution suitably. 2) MULTI MODAL TRANSPORTATION POLICY: a) world class public transportation system must be developed. b) electric vehicles must be encouraged. c)inter linking of rivers will make inland waterways efficient. It will reduce road traffic 3)SUITABLE FOREIGN POLICY:a)an environmental policy of SAARC countries do require, becoz sub continent has almost same geographical patterns. b)need to engage with like-minded developing countries to enforce Paris agreement liabilities on developed countries.

The Global Ideas Bank's origins lie in the Institute for Social Inventions, which was set up in 1985 by Nicholas Albery, social inventor and visionary. From small beginnings (a network of inventors, a quarterly newsletter), the Institute grew into a full-fledged organisation under his leadership: producing an annual compendium, running social inventions workshops and promoting creative solutions around the world. It was part of the first European Social Innovations Exchange. In 2001, the institute was awarded a Margaret Mead Special Recognition Award for "community creativity for a new century"

The citizens are having doubts about the effect of underground rainwater harvesting in a building complex. The scientific reports may be shared for removing this doubt. The skill workers like Mason may be trained on how to prepare the pits' rainwater storage.
