Senior Citizens, Middle class citizens and Rural indians use Bank FD as source of investment to earn some livelihood. There is a glaring mismatch in the way TDS collection in Bank FD and other investment instruments. e.g In FD, TDS deducted on every quarter wheather interest is paid or acrued, Whereas in case of Mutual Funds and other TDS deducted on maturity. TDS on quarterly basis affect interest compounding and the effective yield to customer is much lower than expected. In the current inflationary world, TDS on Bank FDs need a relook so that There should Not be any TDS on Bank FDs. This will.help lot of people to save money and get decent returns for their livelihood.
