The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

सर जी, मेरा मानना है, कि ओखा (गुजरात)से मुंबई गोआ कन्या कुमारी गंगासागर तक समुद्र में जलवाहन चलाने चाहिए,और जलमार्ग स्थापित होना चाहिए, यह मार्ग सस्ते अच्छे एवम् कम खर्चीले होंगे। और देश को उच्चतर प्रदान करेंगे। कृपया इस पर भी एक योजना का निर्धारण करें। प्रणाम

Generally Water transportation is not much popular to common man among the major four modes of transportation - Road Rail Water and Air. This is mainly due to its risk and acccident perception, Low Comfort perception and time consumption. So people prefer other modes tha water ways. But the history says the world was connected mainly by conquering the great Oceans - overcoming the water turbulance. When formulating the Water Transportation polic1ies and Projects, the following points to be taken into account 1) Familiarising the common man to make them confident of the mode of transportation 2) To make them confident and assuring a "Wet free" transportation short promotional trips in fresh water and Sea water stretches to be included in the projects 3) An intensive awareness programmes explaining the economic and environmental benefits also to be the part of Projects

Sir, Sorry I am placing this request under this section but this Discuss section will end up first i.e. on 6/7/22.So to reach you early was my motto.In the new labour laws please remove the word he from every place say where Govt. is addressing an employer or an an employee say "he will give proper leave to the employee" or "he will get benefitted by the provident fund" etc. Replace them with he/she or better use simply use 'the employee' say for example "the employee will get benefitted" or "the employer have to provide security to the employee" etc. It sounds somewhat male dominated industries. I know Govt. has set many laws here for the wellbeing of women employees but then also a rule book which has a big part of context supporting women employees then it must not sound male dominant.You are doing a good job for the well fare of women but please replace such words, it's the matter of 36 pages only.All things will be same. Hope you will.This is at the starting stage only, notfaraway

The term Ro-Ro is generally used for large ocean-going vessels which have in-built or shore-based ramps that allow cargo and vehicles to be easily rolled on and rolled off the vessel. The service in Gujarat is set to reduce travel time between the two ports (a distance of 32 km) from around eight hours to just over an hour.

इससे पहले 2016 में द्वारका जिले से कच्छ जिले के बीच एक प्राइवेट और गुजरात सरकार ने मिलकर कच्छ-सागर सेतु के नाम से ऐसी सेवा लॉन्च की थी। लेकिन, कुछ तकनीकी और वित्तीय समस्याओं के चलते इस योजना को लंबित करना पड़ा

इस फेरी सर्विस पर 614 करोड़ रुपये खर्च हुए हैं। घोघा और दाहेज बंदरगाहों को इसके लिहाज से तैयार करने के लिए केंद्र सरकार से 117 करोड़ रुपये सागरमाला परियोजना के तहत आवंटित किए गए थे। गुजरात सरकार के मरीन एवं पोर्ट अफेयर्स के पास इसकी जिम्मेदारी है, जिसने 2011 में इसके टेंडर निकाले थे।

क्या है रोल ऑन/रोल ऑफ (रो-रो) सेवा जैसा कि नाम से ही साफ है कि किसी सामान को लादना और फिर उसे उतारना। इसमें जहाजों को इस तरह से तैयार किया जाता है, जिनमें कारों, ट्रकों, सेमी-ट्रेलर ट्रकों, ट्रेलर्स और अन्य चीजों को लादा जा सकता है। इसके अलावा लोग भी इसमें सफर कर सकते हैं। यह लिफ्ट ऑन सर्विस से ठीक उलट है, जिसमें क्रेन से किसी सामान को उठाया जाता है और दूसरे स्थान पर रखा जाता है। रो-रो सेवा के लिए जहाजों को इस तरह से तैयार किया जाता है कि बंदरगाहों पर इनमें सामानों को आसानी से लादा जा सके और उतारा जा सके।
