Public sector bank staff are very rude and lazy. Maybe start their privatization with Bank of India which is the rudest of them all.
About Roro and Ropax - What about chances of attacks by pirates or other countries . ? Oh , like someone said, Agniveers can be employed as armed security. Other than that , whatever ports these boats visit must be well decorated (it should become a hub - international hub where international products etc are being sold etc) .... just like Singapore ... maybe even make them tax free ports for international visitors only . .... Only if foreign investment comes, will there be transformation . If our countrymen just keep running these boats , nothing developmental will happen. Utmost , they may buy these boats out of loan and then rent it to private players ; because they can't imagine new ideas or how to implement them Or else government must create such a huge ecosystem as mentioned above .

Cont'd----This can transport agricultural produce & other goods also. Width of the water channels should be 4 to 5mtrs wide and about 3 mtrs deep.Water in the channel can be used for agricultural purpose with controlled discharges. Two way transport can be done with communication like trains stopping at stations for the other to go in opposite direction. It's only a concept which can take care of irrigation and transport to certain level. Basically where rivers are diverted inland for various purposes. Similar to what is being done in suez canal or Panama canal for large ocean going ships. This is on a smaller scale. Even passangers can travel. The agricultural produce can move towards rivers for further transport to cities or towns.

Waterways is another mode of transportation
Could be combined with agricultural open water trapezoidal channels in certain areas. The floating barge in the shape of the channel with drive wheels touching the walls or the top edges on either side. The load will be transferred to the water because of the floating barge. Energy requirements will be less in the direction of water flow. There will be positive drive because of wheels touching the edges. Water levels needs to be maintained all the time. This can transport agricultural produce & other goods also.
