The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

Further to my comments. 9. Most of the canal network is passing through villeges. Hence care shall be taken so as to do not interfere agriculture activities. 10. Due to movement of vessels, canal bunds will be subjected to soil erosion, therefore revitment or lining to be done for canal. 11. Water Passage to agriculture land through sluice/ irrigation channels should not be effected. 12. Some if the Existing villages are very nearer to canal . Care shall be taken while design for public convenience. 13. Width of canals shall be as broad as possible.

1. where ever possible, the ferry transport through coastal should extend to inland rivers. 2. Railways system extend their services according to the ferry ports for better transportation of goods. 3. India may try collaborative ferry tourism with srilanka if mutually beneficial without compromising security and national aganda. 4. The ferry ports for public transport, tourism and cargo movements may select separate accordingly

Cont'd----Trucks & heavy vehicles 3 tons should have separate ferry service as time may not be a consideration like cars & passengers. The ramp needs to take care of both loads and tide levels. Alternatively additional good ramp can be on the ground which can overlap the ferry ramp with robust heavy construction to reduce weight for the ferry. This ramp to be designed by experienced engineers & mass fabricated. There has to be some sort of standard dimensions for the ferry suitable for various water depths. There are so many designs already developed by other countries and have served several years with all modifications made. Simply copy it or buy the design to suit our working conditions to speed up the process For the success of the project there needs to be substantial time or fuel savings.

To make ro-ro & ro-pax ferry service operational guidelines more successful. There needs to be a board indicating fuel saved, distance & time by choosing the service. Basic amenities should be of world class. Timing should be indicated electronically for frequency & departure time. This should be visible on main roads leading to the wharf. To choose between road or ferry service. I have seen several times cars getting damaged due to improper ramps on ferry. The reason being low ground clearance for cars. The ramp width should be to the entire width of the ferry to make 2 vehicles pass together. The approach roads to be well designed. Parking facility to be provided. Trucks & heavy vehicles 3 tons should have separate ferry service as time may not be a consideration like cars & passengers. The ramp needs to take care of both loads and tide levels. respected sir, all the river, if there are no bridges, must have ferry service to reduce traffic load on highway connections with bridge and on bridg. it will time saving and reduce traffic load on bridg and adjoining road. river must available water shuttle for transport moad for passengers and cargo, it will be our secondary mode of transport reduce traffic on road. water transport is cheap, so it will help our economy. some parts of india private partners are run ferry, it's standard are not acceptable, it should be more strong and more standards to cross river, save time, save fuel, reduce traffic.
