The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

इस सेवा के अंतर्गत दोनों ओर के तटों की भूमि पर इस प्रकार की कृषि की जाए जो कि व्यापारी दृष्टि को साकार करता हो , और साथ ही रोजगार के अवसर देता हो ।

1. Ferry transport will reduce the transport cost. 2. There should be proper arrangements for protection in the case of medical emergency, rescue and climate change related issues etc. 3.There should be proper security systems to avoid illegal activities and sea side intrusions by terrorists, smugglers etc. 4. There must be proper directions and rules to avoid water pollutions and cleanliness of the ports and travel routes. 5. The ferry should not affect the daily life of fisherman and others who especially depending on coastal for their existence.

This ferry services should be linked to all major costal cities. So that rush in trains and buses will come down to some extent and road traffic will come down. 3 types of ferry services can be launched. One for tourists. To transport essential commodities and commercial products. To transport regular passengers from one coastal area to another coastal area daily. Rates should be affordable to everyone and based on the facilities extented a premium price can be fixed. This is a good initiative

At every district,Ferry Transport Corporation must be established which will be functioning to undertake the operation of Ferries across the Water bodies which is navigable. These corporations will ensure smooth travel and maintenance of those Ferries
