Maharashtra’s Ro-Pax ferry between Mumbai and Alibaug can get you in less than 60 minutes as opposed to 3.5 hours or longer it takes by road. The boarding point in Mumbai is Terminal R, Bhaucha Dhaka in Mazgaon. The ferry usually accommodates 500 passengers and 150 vehicles. The frequency of the services will be increased when the demand picks up.
The financial capital of India, Mumbai, is soon expected to see a new mode of transportation – 12 water taxi and 4 ferry services connecting western, central and harbor lines. The move is part of the government’s plans to promote eco-friendly water-based transportation and reduce traffic on Mumbai’s overburdened road infrastructure.

suggestions on the Draft guidelines for operationlization of Ro-Ro & Ro-Rox ferry services along the coast of India is great and necessary for growth of costal transportation. coastal transportation is very important for growth of country and aatmanirbhar bharat abhiyaan. costal service should be encouraged since there are many benefits like shorter travel distance cheaper logistics and less pollution. costal transportation need Booster dose for their survival. publicity and more private players can help to make it more effective and secure. our private sector requires more transparency and more productive. costal transportation should be encouraged since it has many benefits and it is very economical. so new way to promote our future generation.

Ro-Ro service and Ro-pax service is very convenient, time saving and economic service to be started under Sagarmala project.Such services should be started from metro cities in plains to Coastal cities and ports directly. Major coastal towns are also linked through it. By this mega project we can link all parts of country like a Garland. Therefore this project is called Sagarmala.
