The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

RoRo and RoRo- Pax ferry service in southern and western coastal area is very economical and beneficial services for who use it. Some Features should consider.... * RoRo taxi in competition, the operational authority of RoRo should manage the cost of visit economical thus more person, tourists and vehicle, things can load on the ship. * Smart Card Cum Monthly Pass for multi Visit and Daily visitor. * More new routes should starts. * Some mandatory inspection,control &checking of goods, vehicle and passengers must. * Life saving boat or bags must avail on the ship. Drinking and some pantry things should avail on the RoRo and RoRO Pax ferry ship. * Clean and clear conditions on the Ferry ship. thanks

madam/sirs trial runs should be done by fishing boats trawler on the coastal stretches and then coast guard survey vessel.only after confirming the tides and periodical raising and all weather operations we can go ahead with regular services

opposing good initiative our opposition is ready, saramala project or shivaji statue in Arabian sea. every panchayat or municipality or Mla think they are boss of the place RIGHT OR WRONG not concern . Best ideas :WE NEED TO develop sea port in sea,floating port , which can be passenger boat " sea station"thereafter local boat services , anchoring facility, mechanize load/unload floating ramp, all ideas to protect from high tides,wind for safety can be tested .

This is a great initiative and it will help the tourists, business people in many ways. Government should ensure that the Private ferry operators gives quality service in nominal charges to utilise their services and not use it for any illegal activities. They should strictly follow the safety measures and follow the guidelines. A surprise check frequently whether any illegal items are transported using these ferry services should be there. These ferry services should be point to point and travellers can make use of this. During heavy cyclone or monsoon season the service should be operational only if Meteorological Department gives clearance. While transporting inflammable materials extra care and safety measures have to be taken. While ferreying the tourists it should not exceed the prescribed weight limit and everyone's safety should be ensured. Adequate life jackets, rubber boats and fire extinguishers should be there in each ferry.
