Kalyan-Dombivli has been short-listed as one of the 100 cities in India to be developed as a SMART City under the SMART Cities Mission. Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is in the process of preparing a Smart City Proposal to compete in the nation-wide Smart City Challenge. Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation seeks the valuable inputs of the citizens to assist in the preparation of smart city vision. We request you to share your thoughts and aspirations on this discussion forum. The needs, aspirations and dreams of the citizens are to be articulated through the SMART CITY vision. KDMC is looking for active participation of the citizens to understand their likes and dislikes about the city, the city features to leverage for smart city development, and thoughts for optimum utilization of the city resources. The suggestions are welcomed on various smart solutions for urban services like water supply, sewerage, solid waste management; aesthetics, transport, health, e-governance and IT interventions.

The last date to submit your comments is 4th December, 2015.

Every road should have utility corridor/trench to accommodate tele/internet cables, power cables and water and Gas pipelines. KDMC can give these trenchs on lease to different companies. No companies shall be allowed to dig the road to lay their utility cables or pipelines. Proper manhole should planned to manage these utilities in case of fault and also design the trenches in such a way that one fault can not cause problem to other ulitilities

Smart city vision: 1. Individual metering of water and electricity uploaded to cloud through GPRS. This is validated with actual supply to find faults. 2. Regionwise monitoring of power and water consumption per region which is again fed back to cloud for analytics purpose. 3. CCTV based traffic control at all major traffic junction. 4. Panic button in public places and transport for calling the cops with backup CCTV to prune out false alarms. 5. GPS based public transport

1 Rickshaws in kalyan west DO NOT run on meter. They overcharge the fare, and behave rudely when asked to charge less. METER should be made compulsory. 2 At present there is CNG gas station at only 1 petrol pump. All rickshaws have to line up at the same petrol pump leading to traffic. Atleast 4 to 5 other petrol pumps should have install CNG stations urgently. 3 ALL THE HEAVY VEHICLES LIKE TRUCK, TRAILERS going to mumbai have to pass through main road of kalyan leading to HORRIBLE traffic. PLEASE urgently finish the work of KALYAN BYPASS ROAD. 4. The entry of KALYAN BUS DEPO IS PLACED JUST OPP TO STATION. All the buses have to go through crowded roads opposite to station to enter bus depo. PLEASE MAKE THE ENTRY OF BUS DEPO FROM OPPOSITE SIDE. It will be a relief for bus drivers too. 5 PUBLIC TRANSPORT SHOULD BE IMPROVED. NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD PRIVATE TRANSPORT. AC buses should be started. BUS STANDS are in bad shape. They should be improved with more seating capacity, with trees, dustbins around them. 6 NEAR SHIVAJI CHOWK, a big market has been set up by hundreds of hawkers completely blocking the road. KDMC HAS MADE A SEPERATE MARKET PLACE OPPOSITE SARVODAY MALL NEAR PATRIPOOL. ALL THE HAWKERS SHOULD BE STRICTLY MADE TO SHIFT TO NEW MARKET PLACE MADE BY KDMC so that shivaji chowk can be cleared. 7 Population of kalyan is increasing rapidly. WE NEED MORE PARKS AND OPEN GROUNDS esp for childern and elders !!! 8 Many students of kalyan live in small houses without proper place to study. ATLEAST 1 GOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY WITH GOOD SITTING ARRANGEMENT, LIGHTING, AND VENTILATION will be VERY VERY USEFUL. 9 KHADAKPADA, THE NEW PART OF KALYAN is POORLY CONNECTED TO OLD KALYAN by very narrow lanes passing through slums. These roads should be widened, especially those passing through kala talav. 9. WASTE MANAGEMENT SHOULD BE IMPROVED. The garbage is dumped at kalyan dumping ground Near sonavne college. WASTE SHOULD BE FIRST TREATED LIKE DONE BY BMC, OR ATLEAST LANDFILLING SHD BE DONE, instead of just dumping it.

The first objective of the Smart City should be to make the city liveable. Please refer to the report by The Economist on Global Liveability Ranking 2015 - http://www.eiu.com/public/topical_report.aspx?campaignid=Liveability2015
