Education is considered as the backbone of development, both at the individual household and societal levels. Educating the tribal children has been a challenge for the Government for various socio-cultural, economic, ecological and administrative reasons. Government is redesigning its strategies to create an enabling ecosystem of equal opportunity for quality education for ST children.

One of the major concerns of Tribal education is the low ST literacy rate and high ST drop-out rate.

Reducing the ST drop-out rates in Class I to X is a challenge. Bringing them back and to gainfully utilizing those who have already dropped out requires extreme care, sensitivity, imagination and meticulous planning.

Through this platform, Ministry of Tribal Affairs invites ideas, suggestions, views, opinions, solutions, criticism, and best practices from citizen for innovative interventions.

People need food more than Education. Poverty is the main reason of Illiteracy. If the Tribal Areas are Developed the Tribal people will get more employment , their poverty will be alleviated. The automatically the school drop outs will go down and the literacy rate will go up.

Also jawahar navodaya schools should be opened in all sub division towns in 5th scheduled areas. This will instill a concept of disciplined education rather than uselessly building schools in every village where not one good teacher will ever teach. .
