Better infrastructure, research grants, incentives and travel grants for those who want to present their research findings. Giving a part travel grant (USD 75 per day barely covers food and transportatation, not even boarding) that too once in three years is very demotivating. There are so many who may not have used this even once in their careers and then there are those who have papers to be presented but have to wait for 3 years till they become eligible for a grant!!

Large research groups headed by experienced researchers must be formed in universities. The research area must be defined by indentifying technologies which we are still imported to develop / design any product. A dedicated researcher needs rational support from the administration. Time bound promotions or excel sheet measuring the performance over clearly identified parameters should be formulated and bias of human element must be reduced.

The proposed CBCS and cafetaria approach will kill quality, and standardisation of syllabii will kill innovation. Academic autonomy of Universities to choose their own exam scheme, course structure within the overall 10+2+3 framework should be protected, which will be lost with the proposed Central Universities Common Act. Quality and infrastructure audit before introducing new courses after thorough debate among general body of teachers and students representatives.
