Why countries like US,UK,Germany,Japan are scientifically or economically advanced is because of their research & development system. They allocate large sum of money for their research. Are we doing this in India. If we could do this we could very well stop the brain drain out of our country. Sir, gradually our students are not willing for research and innovation, today trend is for engineering, MBBS & Marketing we have to change this ideology. We have to encourage the top students for accepting research line. In every trade their should be research papers with theory and practicals. Only research & inventions are required for us.

I am a student and I have heard many speakers saying that the Govt. has a huge budget for R&D. But being from a pvt clg I dont know how to access it or whom to contact. No doubt IITs are best technical institutes but students of other colleges have the right to access the funds alloted by Govt. for students. Many of their ideas can change the way we live. The govt should communicate with students of pvt colleges and give them funds for research if their ideas are innovative.

Major issues in continuation of research and innovation. Middle aged and scholars from job are finding it difficult to compete with the young scholars for pursuing and continuing research in a full time because of the following reasons:- 1) Leaving Job and not getting any fellowship because of age barrier. 2) Applying for fellowship in interdisciplinary research area other than specialized research field and getting rejection of proposal. (Management studies) 3) No institutional provision.

Why UGC is not making mandatory criteria for appointing/promoting candidates to Professor those who have at least 10 high quality research papers in SCI/SSCI/HSCI indexed nonpaid journals of high impact factors or having at least two/three patents? Is there any system that can honestly rate the university on the basis of quality of teaching and research, infrastructure, faculty and level of implementation of UGC rules and regulations?
