A multi-lingual society recognises the importance of education in languages. While there are some interventions for appointment of language teachers and promotion of classical languages, there is no comprehensive scheme or language policy and we need to have inputs on this dimension.

Learning another language opens up new opportunities and gives you perspectives that you might never have encountered otherwise. Personal, professional, social, and economic considerations all point to the advantages of learning foreign languages.

I as a foreign language professional don't have to leave my country and I have a great job and doing well in my own country and this also helps in reducing the brain drain when I am getting opportunities to grow and be satisfied professionally, economically and definitely add on to growth of my country. I also learnt sanskrit and studied in a DAV School but unfortunately not using that knowledge anywhere. I hope government works on to it and gives the kids opportunities to explore languages.

In time of Globalization and internationalization we should be making our students more versatile and giving them the option of learning foreign languages which will help them in their future securing better degrees and job opportunities in our own country rather than focusing merely on learning on state language. Why cant that be done by the parents at home!!!! More emphasis on foreign languages should be there.

A person competent in other languages can contribute to international diplomacy, promote national security and world peace, and successfully engage in international trade. In a country where the PM has his primary focus on promoting trade and relations among the countries, opening the opportunity for its children to learn a foreign language would be the most important step towards a new changed,non-conservative India. HRD can frame a policy wherein all states of the country compulsarily need to teach 3 languages eng, hindi and an optional language out of the 8th schedule of constitution. For this the south indian states can choose any lang of their choice as third optional along with eng and hindi and north indians too can do the same replacing the foriegn lang.(One subject can be made for 100 mrks 50 each to Hindi and optionl language).Foreign language can be offered at grad level as it is need based.
