As today we are talking for the skill development in India, there is a number of colleges like for B.Tech but have we ever thought the level of teaching in these colleges. only theoretical knowledge which is also incomplete is provided except in IITs or some NITs. there are some universities which are so big that seems to provide good education but thats not true. UGC is required to accredit them on basis how they provide education, assessment of teacher and what the skill development program is

Instead of following the flawed rankings model, we should develop a qualitative national navigator, a system that enables prospective students to search for the right higher education institute by setting their own criteria (e.g. research focus, teacher student ratio, accommodation, etc). This navigator could be linked to and updated through annual data provided by various colleges and universities (e.g. student survey results, degrees conferred, etc).

Any ranking system necessarily needs to simplify and give value (‘weightage’) to one variable over the other. In doing so, it erases the value of different goals than different institutions fulfill. Rather than waste resources on this ultimately unnecessary and counter-productive exercise, we should be using these resources to strengthen our regional colleges and universities, to better equip our libraries, to make our education system easily accessible to all.
