With globalization and liberalization of Indian Economy in last two decades, numerous domestic and international companies have been drawn to investing in new modes of business/ business models targeted at the huge domestic market especially in the consumer goods & services. Direct Selling is one of these modes where goods /services are sold directly by the producer/service provider to the consumers. For this different models such as Multi Level/Network marketing, Door to Door Selling, Online Selling, Tele-shopping are being used. These practices are new and different from traditional retail through shops. In the absence of a proper regulatory framework, retail through these models leads to consumer grievances, trader’s issues, slow growth of the sector etc.

The aim of this discussion is to deliberate and evolve views of all stakeholders for providing a regulatory framework to the sector.

We hear about farmers' suicide because of over-production and falling of purchase price. When a farmer is forced to sell potato @ Rs.2.00 a kilo we buy it at Rs.10.00 in the market. Why can't state govt intervene and remove the middlemen who only create back income and evade tax. Co-operatives made by states can reduce the gap and help bothe the consumer and the farmer.

Areas such as multi level marketing, tele selling, online selling etc. should be heavily regulated under consumer protection laws. More often than not, the products or services advertised or sold through these channels are either overpriced or poor quality. These channels should explicitly display the terms of after sales service & warranty. Also, the look & feel along with demo usage should be clearly displayed on these channels. Consumer grievances should be quickly resolved.

"Fist step is hardest but gives result", remove the cash and use card transactions for each and every rupee the each rupee is countable then future is ours we can do any thing because no black money will exist in India because each rupee must want accounts then we can find all things :)
