In the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat on 27th September 2020, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi spoke about the art of storytelling. He mentioned that the history of stories is as ancient as the human civilization itself. ‘Where there is a soul, there is a story’.

As we are going to celebrate 75 years of independence, Prime Minister urged storytellers across the Nation to share stories of many inspiring events during the entire period of our enslavement. Especially, from 1857 to 1947, stories around every major or minor incident during this period can be introduced to our new generation.

“May this art of storytelling become stronger in the country, become more popularized and easier to imbibe - this is something we must all strive for”: PM Narendra Modi

Do you know of any inspiring event during the 1857-1947 freedom struggle that isn’t so well known? Maybe a long-forgotten hero who did not get as much prominence as he/she deserved? Maybe an incident which played a minor but important role in our struggle? A story you might have heard from a family elder, many years ago?

Tell us, we will feature your story for all Indians!

Share your story in the form of a video, audio clip, picture or essay.

my father in law participated in the Quit India movement before 1947 and went jail, got all torturings of the British in jail. after 1947 Sri Sri K K navmaan Navmaan Aligarh fought for the freedom of speech and human rights and got jailed, tortured badly for 3 years in 1974 when the emergency was imposed to suppress the freedom of Indians. India got freedom in 2014 when British and foreigner governed congress was vanished, hope it will remain free and progress in the true sense

My post is not my experience as I had no experience of freedom struggle but stories of quit India movement told by my father. My father used to wear trousers and full sleeve shirt along with a hat which was worn by Britishers.Once he was caught by college students and asked to discard British clothes and hat and put it in the bonfire. He went home and changed his dress and put the British era clothes in the bonfire. My father 's elder brother was also a freedom fighter.

The freedom struggle is filled with tales of thousands of warriors, who fought till their last breath. Stripped of their titles and humiliated, these nobles, royals, and commoners did not give up, and as a result were immortalised in our history books. While names likes Shivaji Maharaj, Bajirao, Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga, Prithviraj Chauhan and others have been given their rightful place, the unsung women warriors have been denied the same for the longest time. May God's mercy be upon all.
