1.India has raw materials for steel industry. 2.Some countries(China) taking ore from Indian mines& exporting steel at lower cost than Indian companies. 3.Now self-reliance indicates production of required steel inside India. 4.Now question is:why Indian steel cost more. 5.If it's due to better quality, then government may stop importing showing quality issue. 6.If it's due to old technology then need to modify. 7.If companies making excessive profit, then it to be stop. #mygov #MoS #MSTC

Sir, our import of steel from other countries should be reduced drastically and steel made in India should be used instead. We should also attract import of steel from India by other countries by improving the quality matching international standards and also export at a competitively cheaper price.

Sir, Our steel industry needs central government's support in not only increasing its consumption in our local markets, but also uplift themselves to a level that makes them a leading exporter of steel to majority of international markets. Make in India initiative by the central government is an important step in this direction.

Automotive steel and other metals recycling-: 1) Vehicles older than 15 years must be recycled 2) Renewal of vehicle registration after first term completion should be cancelled and these metals should be reused

Read lot of gov effort on making imports heavy, my suggestions; [1] Re-cycle lots of unused disposed vehicles across country, cards, bicycle, two wheelers, etc. [2] Re cycle unused house hold steels items [3] identify the rest 80% use case from Gaussian distribution and brainstorm to find alternative materials for those cases. [4] Supply and demand should be control to precise number so that import is not needed I will not suggest digging new mines for extra steel, its not good for us

Today all the toppers want to enter computer science for their higher studies. The govt can make metallurgy interesting by setting up R&D centres and sponsoring the employees for exposure to labs abroad. Publicise it and attract the bright minds. And keep a watch on them and follow up with their progress and let them shine. Create mini-ISROs in all minitries.

Sir,it's commonly known to all that steel consumption in our country is much higher compared to some other developing nations...almost every home has utensils made up of steel...the demand increases in spite of its long span of usage life..so this sector needs much promotion as like other industries of our India...the workers have to be provided with further amenities, as they indeed work hard ...May the dream of self reliant of our founder of nation Gandhi ji comes true..Champaran Satyagraha !

More than 5 million MT steel being imported every year. Mostly from China. China imports iron ore from Australia, India, etc. and supplying finished steel to the world. We have cheap raw materials, the govt should encourage entrepreneurs to put up steel mills of higher capacity to produce high quality steel at least cost in the world. It is possible. Tatas and Jindals have not done enough. Let Mittal and some new entreprenuers come in please. Give them iron ore mines, land on lease.
