बाँस को लगाने की पारम्परिक विधियाँ बीज और उदभिज्ज तरीकों पर आधारित है। कुछ विशेष अवधि के दौरान बीज की इ=उपलब्धता कम हो जाती है लेकिन बाँस -फूल (बम्बू फ्लावर) हर समय उपलब्ध रहता है। ज्यदातर बाँस के फूल 10 से लेकर 60 वर्ष से भी ज्यादा लंबे समय तक बने रहते हैं जो विभिन्न प्रजातियों पर निर्भर करते हैं। सामान्यतः चरणीय पुष्पण यूथवृति वाला हटा है और पुष्पण के बाद बाँस के सम्पूर्ण खिले हुए फूल समाप्त हो जाते हैं।
