Bamboos are a diverse groups of evergreen perennial flowering plants in the subfamily bambusoideae of the grass family poaceae. The origion of the word "bamboo" is uncertain, but it probably comes from the dutch or Portuguese language, which origionlly borrowed it from malay or Kannada.

In continuation of my earlier post on Bamboo. While importance of Bamboo is to be appreciated, we should not go overboard. There are plenty of other all-weather plants and shrubs too, that grow every where, un-dependent on water, provide much needed eco balance and a living to the needy and poor, waiting to be experimented. We are yet to reach out to them. The dear poor children, their parents and teachers in the villages and small little towns require encompassing and encouragement.

Respected Prime Minister Sir,
I learnt that Bamboo poles are incredibly strong and sturdy (some are stronger then steel!) and are often used for construction and building throughout the world! Thin poles are good stakes in the garden or for weaving furniture. Larger poles are often used for scaffolding or building frames!
