The e-Committee, Supreme Court of India envisages a judicial system that is more accessible, efficient, and equitable for every individual who engages with the justice delivery system. The right of access to justice, guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution encompasses the right to access live court proceedings.

To imbue greater transparency, inclusivity and foster access to justice, the e-Committee has undertaken the project of live streaming of court proceedings on priority. This will enable access to live court proceedings, including on matters of public interest to citizens, journalists, civil society, academicians, and law students on a real-time basis, which was not otherwise possible owing to geographical, logistical, or infrastructural issues.

The e-Committee, Supreme Court of India invites inputs, feedback, and suggestions on the Draft Model Rules for Live-Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings.

The last date to receive Suggestions/Inputs is 30th June 2021.

Respected Sir, Live streaming and recording of court proceedings is a very much useful and innovative idea which should be highly appreciated and it should be given more weightage. It will provide the transparency of Indian judicial system to the common man and he will be hopeful of getting justice in time without any partiality. It is the prime duty of the court.Watching court proceedings in live telecast somebody can give more clues to the court for better judgement.

Ubder Rule 11 where access to live streaming is given, legal interns should also be added in that category because giving access to legal interns can really help them in understanding the implementation and usage of law giving them practical experience.

It is a good idea to have such sessions of courts. Major cases will be processed in court after dealing with many cases. Many recordings will lead to final decision. Such service will be economic and time saving as well.

District Courts are presided over by District Judges. Additional District Judges and Assistant District Judges may be appointed based on the caseload. Appeals against District Court judgments lie in the High Court.
