The e-Committee, Supreme Court of India envisages a judicial system that is more accessible, efficient, and equitable for every individual who engages with the justice delivery system. The right of access to justice, guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution encompasses the right to access live court proceedings.

To imbue greater transparency, inclusivity and foster access to justice, the e-Committee has undertaken the project of live streaming of court proceedings on priority. This will enable access to live court proceedings, including on matters of public interest to citizens, journalists, civil society, academicians, and law students on a real-time basis, which was not otherwise possible owing to geographical, logistical, or infrastructural issues.

The e-Committee, Supreme Court of India invites inputs, feedback, and suggestions on the Draft Model Rules for Live-Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings.

During Covid, critical services were running overtime - no night/day/leaves for health workers. Could the courts forgo their normal summer break to clear piles of long pending critical cases? Could they step in contributing their bit in this noble way to help the Nation during critical times? Can they ever say no to petitions/PILs on governance - mostly jurisdictional overreach matters? More than being the temple of justice, have they turned into an epitome of ego, power, and pelf?

Courts more often engage in governance matters - crossing jurisdictional limits - at the cost of much more critical, long overdue critical judicial matters. During Covid, they delayed hearing/judgements on critical cases for ‘more critical’ Covid management issues!! Ironically, holding hearings every single day!! They don’t do that even on very critical cases. They need to be held accountable. Delaying justice is a crime. The President must play an active role in reigning in courts.

Democracy is supreme. Courts can not be above or beyond democracy. Citizens have the right to justice. Justice delayed is justice denied! Need a system to rein in courts through necessary constitutional and digital mechanisms. There shall be KPIs for judges too - with strict monitoring and ensuing penalties for deviance.

- The chances of media trials and judgments pronounced by the public increase a lot, and both the accused and the victim should have the right to fair trial and natural justice. Streaming such things can hamper their day to day lives. Mechanisms to address these would be necessary. - Examination as per s.313 CrPC should not be live streamed as it is supposed to be conversation between the court and the accused. The accused should have a fair chance to explain himself withoutworrying about world

In sensitive women related cases, it must be made sure that there is no potential character assassination using evidence, of the woman on a live stream. Should this hamper the arguments presented by either of the sides, before presenting such argument, it shall inform the court of the nature of the evidence/material through the alternative means of communication and the court can decide whether such evidence should be presented on stream, or they can peruse the material over the alternate means.

- While any hearing is being streamed, it is necessary for the court to have an alternate way of communication (In house communication app like Sandesh would be appropriate) to communicate amongst themselves. - Before any sensitive material/information is presented by either side, the party shall provide a disclaimer to the court before presenting such material/info before the court and shall inform the court, of the nature of the material. The court can then choose to mute themselves and perus

we know more than lakhs cases are pending in different high courts and subordinates court across the country. More than thousands posts are vacant including judges of high court, need to be filled for faster hearing. There after regular workshop on fast tracking technology and about their proper utilization must be provided to lawyers as well as staff concerned therewith.

I think it's should be live but exclusion of some sensetive cases. if it is already added to the national plan and ready for implementation it would be great action plan with the help of Digital India movement. Thank you

Bad experience in getting claim of my stolen vehicle from the Oriental insurance company Ltd. Chandigarh & police department,judiciary of Kalka . my son,s bike was stolen, in October 2018,FIR LOdged very toughly,got untraceable R from court after 2.5 years ,spent thousands of rupees on traveling to police ,court insurance office. son was so harrassed in complying requirements by insurance. My submission why not insurance company complete all formalities at its own ,all seeking bribes. regr
