The most common drawback of EV is their cost and maintenance as its a disruptive technology leading to shutdown of entire fossil fuel led vehicle industry its not easy to switch to EV vehicles so easily so to roll out EV start with students providing them EV bicycles and gradually introducing higher vehicles. But again like fossil fuel the electricity is also a limited source , entire shifting on EV will lead to increase in electricity prices which will create another menace so govt instead on introducing EV they should work on hybrid vehicles able to function on multiple fuel sources also f possible renewable fuels like solar or hydrogen based technology should be introduces.

Increase financial incentives: Enhance government subsidies and incentives for purchasing electric vehicles. For example, increasing the direct subsidy amount for EVs from the current INR 10,000 to 50,000 per vehicle would make them more affordable.

To reduce transport emissions, cities need to encourage a shift to walking, cycling and public transport, and electrify the vehicles left on their roads: their bus fleets, municipal vehicles, many others are already on their way to becoming electric vehicle (EV) cities, while an electric-rickshaw revolution is underway in Indian cities. As the technology advances and costs have come down, the transition to EV is increasingly feasible.
