We have to consider following points:
1) Is generation of electricity used for EV charging GREEN ? Our 74% generation of electricity is from Coal. Which can not be called green energy. So the concept of EV is not going to reduce carbon foot print to a great extent.
2) Though government is going to promote Solar power. But actual availalable Solar Power in Power Grid can not be ascertained.
3) Nuclear Power generation is being pushed up. But knowing that capacity addition in this sector is quite slow, no significant contribution is expected from Nuclear sector in near future.
4) Manufacturing of relable long range batteries for EV is also not manufactured in our country.
So, why we are pushing for EV ?
We have not yet been able to developed a reliable CNG refueling network across country inspite of OEM CNG fitted vehicles being manufactured for a long time.
We have to re-think the whole scenario.
Some vested interests may be pressurising government to move ahead for EV.

Driving an electric vehicle can help you reduce your carbon footprint because there will be zero tailpipe emissions. You can reduce the environmental impact of charging your vehicle further by choosing renewable energy options for home electricity.

Product manufacturers design eco-friendly products to minimize the harmful effect on the environment, use natural materials to make these products, and use renewable energy resources and fewer natural resources.

There are many benefits of electric vehicles:-

3.) Electric vehicle are more comfortable then fuel dependent vehicles as Ev do less vibration.
4. Direct acceleration which is helpful in traffic.. as many times petrol diesel vehicles stuck in changing gear or acceleration.
5.) No mental pressure for fuel expense.
