Our city “Durgapur” selected for Round-2 under Smart City Mission. At present, Durgapur is in the process of preparing the revised Smart City Proposal. Therefore your valuable suggestions are solicited to revise the Smart City Proposal of Durgapur City for Round-2 and onward submission to Government of India (GoI).

After a lot of deliberation among Durgapur Municipal Corporation (DMC) officials, citizens of Durgapur and various stakeholders, during Citizen’s Engagement Round - 1, Smart City Proposal for Durgapur was developed and it included various components like:

1. City Vision and Goals
2. Strategic Plan
3. Pan City Proposal
4. Area Based Development
to name a few.

In Round 2, based on suggested guidelines by MoUD, GoI and The Municipal Corporation of Durgapur being requested to examine and revise the earlier proposal through identification of the gaps, we are proposing certain changes in the Smart City Proposal Document and a guiding document of the same is being uploaded herewith for comments and suggestions of all concerned Citizens and Stakeholders of Durgapur City by posting their remarks/feedback on the discussion thread.

So, now we invite all citizens of Durgapur to participate in this review process where they can share their suggestions to help DMC reformulate the Smart City Proposal in Smart City Mission Round-2 challenge. The links of required documents have been provided underneath.

1. Durgapur lacks a modern public transport system. It is especially difficult to travel after 7pm in the evening as most of the public transport becomes scarce. 2. Railway connectivity is very poor for daily commuters especially after 6pm, more local trains should be introduced towards Howrah. 3. Frequent power cuts need to be handled. 4. Pollution is on the rise, the city pollution levels must be checked. 5. Drainage to be undergrounded and proper Vats must be introduced at everywhere.

My opinions are - 1.TRY TO INSTALL ALL OVERHEAD CABLE (CABLE/TELEPHONE/INTERNET/Etc) IN UNDERGROUND. 2.INSTALL ALL PIPELINE ,WATER PIPE PINE PROPERLY IN UNDERGROUND. 3. UPGRADE ALL ROAD LIGHTS INTO LED's (FOR BETTER LIGHTING & ENERGY CONSUMPTION). 4. MAKING OF A BETTER FOOTPATH IN MARKET AREAS. 5.MAKING OF A PROPER PARKING PLACE IN CITY CENTERE & BENACHITY. 6.MAKING OF PROPER BUS STANDS,& PROPER BUS ROUTES & AUTO ROUTES. 7.MAKING OF TOILETS & DRINKING WATER TERMINAL BESIDE THE ROADS.

1.Recently there is frequent power cuts, need to be handled. 2. Pollution of our city is to be controlled. 3. Water supply must be regularized. 4.Condition of road in some locality (like Sarat Pally, Dgp-06) is very poor it requires urgent maintenance. 5. Road should be developed in Nabadiganta, Haribazar, Dgp-06 6.The road from Fuljhore to Haribazar should be enlarged in as there are colleges and schools in this road. 7.Proper solid waste management and drain should be cleaned regulerly.

1. Durgapur lacks a modern public transport system. Earlier DSTC/SBSTC buses used to ply within the city. Most of the mini buses ply between Prantika & Railway Stn only. New routes should be planned so as to travel from A-Zone to B-Zone or Maladighi to City centre in a single bus. 2. Frequent power cuts need to be handled. 3. Pollution is a burning issue in the city. 4. Water supply must be regularised. 5. Public washrooms (Sulabhs) should be established. 6. Drainage to be undergrounded.

Proper solid waste management and industrial hazard free Durgapur. Proper prevention of water pollution and proper supply of safe drinking water at every corner of Durgapur. Wi-fi zone and online municipal service. Proper drainage of sewerage system.
