making a city smart doesn't only mean that make the road wider and more traffic signals. a\A city becomes smart when all part of the city is connected well. well built parking areas. street light connection for all roads. 24 hrs clean and green electricity . 24 hrs clean water connection. safer place to live. well planned commercial and residential areas. high speed internet connection. mobile connectivity in all areas. well built public parks. well planned city markets. cean and good hospitals.

According to me Smart City Should focus on:
SAVING TIME AND ENERGY
Saving Travel time by having Effective Public Transport as it directly effects productivity.
LOW COST ENERGY will fulfill most of the problems as a smart city would highly need it.
ON MATTER OF EMPLOYMENT:
When overall cities will develop i believe more employment opportunities will be created.

My vision for a smart Mangalore is
A) to be the first city in India to be dust free. This is possible by sealing the waysides of the road with flora or concrete. End to end tarring.
B) Noise/horn free Mangalore.
C) Wide roads & strict traffic rules.
D) World class beach second to none.
and I am willing to do my bit, I do not expect the govt. alone to do a miracle. We as citizens of Mangalore need to be proactive & accountable for the benefit of the generations to come.

Social Development:1)Requirement of a much more hard-working population in the retail sector.A smart-city cannot afford its shops to be closed at 20.30 - 21.00 which creates problems to the customers.2)All shops to be open on Saturdays and Sundays thereby increasing business and economic activity. That is when the business peaks.Closing shops on weekends mars the economy of this city. This indicates either the shop owners are not interested in doing business or have no social commitment.

Spatial Development :
1) Improper laying of concrete roads without taking into consideration the road edges and boundaries. A small deviation of any 1 wheel of the vehicle at the road edge can be fatal . It can lead to the toppling of the vehicle. A smart city cannot afford to be irresponsible while laying roads .
2) Considering a high population of retired people , a walking lane on both sides of the roads is a necessity and can be provided.

Environmental Development :
1) Immediate stoppage of illegal sand mining from the banks of the Nethravathi . This will reduce soil erosion and thereby benefit the agricultural sector .
