The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated the process of formulation of a new Industrial Policy in May 2017. Since the last Industrial Policy announced in 1991, India has transformed into one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With strong macro-economic fundamentals and several path breaking reforms in the last three years, India is equipped to deploy a different set of ideas and strategies to build a globally competitive Indian industry. The new Industrial Policy will subsume the National Manufacturing Policy.

A consultative approach has been taken for industrial policy formulation wherein six thematic focus groups and an online survey on DIPP website have been used to obtain inputs. Focus groups, with members from government departments, industry associations, academia, and think tanks have been setup to delve deep into challenges faced by the industry in specific areas. The six thematic areas include Manufacturing and MSME; Technology and Innovation; Ease of Doing Business; Infrastructure, Investment, Trade and Fiscal policy; and Skills and employability for the future. A Task Force on Artificial Intelligence for India’s Economic Transformation has also been constituted which will provide inputs for the policy.

It is proposed that the new Industrial Policy will aim at making India a manufacturing hub by promoting ‘Make in India’. It will also suitably incorporate the use of modern smart technologies such as IOT, artificial intelligence and robotics for advanced manufacturing.

Hon’ble Minister of State(i/c) for Commerce & Industry Smt Nirmala Sitharaman will hold consultations with stakeholders, including industry captains, think tanks and State governments in Chennai, Guwahati and Mumbai. The Industrial Policy is likely to be announced in October 2017.

DIPP invites comments, feedback, suggestions from the public regarding framing of the new Policy.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 25th September, 2017.

Services in all Govt./public sectors are very poor. GOVERNMENT can construct or use post office buildings as a HOME HELP(GRAH-SEVA) centre for every 100 homes & houses in Every town as well as in villages . Where some government bodies are always ready to help people, by all means. HOME-HELP(GRAH-SEVA) centre should have all facility like POST,RAILWAY TICKETS,BANKING,RATION,COMPLAINT,SHOPING,LPG,ELECTRICIY BILL ETC. in a same centre. Then it will be more convenient & Reliable for peopl

Strike proper balance between AI and manpower for employment. India cannot be a superpower with semiskilled labor and so, skill education pertinent to industry standards must be high on agenda. Proper marketing channels must be set up. Pursuing MAKE IN INDIA, let not foreign investment and knowledge sharing be neglected and if necessary, industry base can be shifted on lease to an overseas location with Indians on board to collaborate with locals there. Let India grow globally to the fullest.

I think here a lot of skills a lot of manpower a lot resources but still we are suffering from unemployment just because of one reason here lack of manufacturing industries it doesnt matter it would be a small scale or lagre scale and the reason behined the lacking of manufacturing industries is that we are squized in process of setuping a industry because we need a lot of licence a lot of permissions, for a common man it all appears like a impossible thing , and its true also.

I propose AEZ i.e. agricultural economic zone for quick food prossesing units near the fields where raw material is available, so our huge agricultural products will get rates and overall upliftment of farmers. E.g.- i hail from Solapur dist. Where pomegranate of good quality is produced so by providing AEZ for this , it will be win win situation for both farmers and industry prossesing it!! #MyGov

1. Industries should tell what kind of skillset/knowledge is required in the job market. Accordingly, colleges should prepare their study material. 2. Industries should fund colleges to get manpower, which is ready to join the industry, as per market's requirements. 3. This way, the industry will get ready to join skilled people. Colleges will get funds. Students will get instant jobs in the market. 4. Biggest beneficiary would be Government itself. A. It will get people job faster...
