Any consumer movement can be successful only with the whole-hearted participation by the consumers. All the citizens of the country are consumers in one way or the other. The citizens, therefore, is expected to be pro-active in identifying misleading advertisement, suggest effective measures to tackle such advertisements and are also expected to offer out of the box ideas so that the movement against misleading advertisement can really picks up the desired momentum.

Suggestions are invited regarding action that citizen can take against Misleading Advertisements.

Let there be an internal competition among elected Corporators of the Municipal Corporation for the most cleanly enviornment in their wards. The most clean ward be suitably awarded, this will result in every citizen getting attached to SWACHH BHARAT

Sir,a citizen can go to a state consumer forum to complain against a misleading ad.They can also go to the consumer forum against the medium through which ad is posted.Another better way is to neglect the product or service and not to it buy it and also discourage friends,relatives,others not to buy it.A citizen can also write to newspapers,publish in internet against the product and the producer.Thus public opinion can be built against it.Last but not the least , citizen can go to a courtof law

An agency should be set up to control ads. Anyone wishing to advertise in any medium would need to submit a request, along with an affidavit stating that what they will advertise is true to the best of their knowledge (proof attached if needed). This would deter the applicant from publishing misleading ads. Once ratified by the agency, they can publish. There is no need for individual investigation always. Random investigation is to be done to find any discrepancies, which is already punishable.
