तेजी से आगे बढ़ते शहरीकरण और "ब्यूटीफुल सिटी" हरी भरी विरासत के संरक्षण के लिए प्रतिज्ञा तथा चुनौतियों के साथ, चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन हमेशा अपने निवासियों, यात्रियों और पर्यटकों के लिए एक स्वच्छ और स्वस्थ वातावरण बनाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। पारिस्थिति की अनुकूल और टिकाऊ प्रौद्योगिकी के जरिये “स्मार्ट सिटी मिशन” के तहत शहर पे ध्यान केंद्रित किया जाएगा।

"स्वच्छता 2009-2010 पर शहरों की रैंक" (शहरी विकास मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार द्वारा जारी किए गए सर्वेक्षण) के अनुसार चंडीगढ़ 73.48 अंक लेकर प्रथम स्थान पर तथा मैसूर 70.65 अंक लेकर दूसरे स्थान पर रहा| चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन के निवासियों की सफाई के बारे में अधिक बेहतर और प्रभावी योजना में निरन्तर प्रयासरत रेहने में नागरिकों से सीधा आया हुआ परामर्श एक महत्वपूर्ण दूरदर्शिता देगा|

इस लिए चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन नागरिकों को उनके परामर्श, विचार और सुझाओं के लिए आमंत्रित करता है ताकि कुशल साफ़ सफाई लक्ष्य प्राप्त किया जा सके|

The advent of monsoon season invites dengue every year. This year many cities hv declared it as epidemic. MC may hv to take proactive steps to educate citizens specially in villages on do & don'ts. Sr staff hv to get well informed about it before deciding on pragmatic action plan for juniors to implement. Advertisements are vague and not clear. Electronic media may hv to involved to get innovative ads during prime time even as a part of their corporate responsibility.

Rodent menace is another issue where UT/MC shouldn't lose sight off. Chd shouldn't become another Surat. Drainage should be cleaned regularly with bio-degradable chemicals or ayurvedic. Recently PGI has come out with interesting research of killing larve of dengue mosquitoes by adding eucalyptus oil or neem oil in the coolers. Similarly regularly fumigation of sectors specially surrounding villages where cleanliness & sanitation is at low level.

Chandigarh is already well placed for sanitation services. However, there is need to expand use of technology: Good quality numbered and tagged dustbins, trucks with R tags lifting the bins, web based tracking, Outsourcing of entire waste management including biomedical waste from lifting to processing, use of latest technology for final disposal, stringent independent supervisory force with heavy penality, intense community education and community participation through associations can help.

People are throwing garbage in Parks or Nearby Park area. Health department officials are not doing their work properly. They should check their respective areas proactively and Penalty should be imposed to the defaulters. Pet Dogs are doing shit in parks, on roads. Maids are throwing garbage in Parks/near by parks, Vehicles are parked in Parks which is creating pollution inside as well as outside parks. All these factors are hurdle in the cleanliness of Chandigarh (so called City Beautiful).

I think that if we have to improve our sanitation system first comes the gutters which will be badly smelling all the time plus be a partner to give us many diseases so to improve this I have thought that the waste from the gutters is removed but also there is lots of waste which remains I think that if we clean athe gutters n we have to cover it in such a way that only the house water and rain water will go and there will be no such all d waste in the water n hence it will remain clean
