तेजी से आगे बढ़ते शहरीकरण और "ब्यूटीफुल सिटी" हरी भरी विरासत के संरक्षण के लिए प्रतिज्ञा तथा चुनौतियों के साथ, चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन हमेशा अपने निवासियों, यात्रियों और पर्यटकों के लिए एक स्वच्छ और स्वस्थ वातावरण बनाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। पारिस्थिति की अनुकूल और टिकाऊ प्रौद्योगिकी के जरिये “स्मार्ट सिटी मिशन” के तहत शहर पे ध्यान केंद्रित किया जाएगा।

"स्वच्छता 2009-2010 पर शहरों की रैंक" (शहरी विकास मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार द्वारा जारी किए गए सर्वेक्षण) के अनुसार चंडीगढ़ 73.48 अंक लेकर प्रथम स्थान पर तथा मैसूर 70.65 अंक लेकर दूसरे स्थान पर रहा| चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन के निवासियों की सफाई के बारे में अधिक बेहतर और प्रभावी योजना में निरन्तर प्रयासरत रेहने में नागरिकों से सीधा आया हुआ परामर्श एक महत्वपूर्ण दूरदर्शिता देगा|

इस लिए चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन नागरिकों को उनके परामर्श, विचार और सुझाओं के लिए आमंत्रित करता है ताकि कुशल साफ़ सफाई लक्ष्य प्राप्त किया जा सके|

To maintain cleanliness simple 3 things are needed to be done, rest will follow automatically: 1. Heavy Fines on littering, spitting etc. 2. 50% of the fine charged to be added to salary of policeman who registers it, but police should use dash cams or simple mobile cameras to be used as proofs. 3. Online portal where people can post photos & videos of littering, spitting so that offenders feel the deterrence (even if not fined).

Life Straw. .This is the name of a slim straw shaped filtering device that I came across. .no battery, no power needed...dip one end in the polluted water and draw in purified water from other end... Google the name..also you can search for it on youtube. .numerous videos are there to prove it's uniqueness and application of this object is immense specially in rural areas where safe drinking water is scarce.

The 'swatch bharath' abhiyan is facing serious problems with civic bodies in municipalities not lifting the garbage regularly..it is glaringly evident in all 6 metros..civic body says they dont have man power and machinary to lift the garbage regularly..as a first step I request PM to concentrate on strengthening all civic bodies of all 6 metros to address this problem urgently as we try to showcase our big cities to act investments.

I think in today's age of digital media you should promote this in the same manner. IDEA :- 1. Pick the most populated area. 2. Choose any particular DUST BIN and anyone who uses the dust bin will be rewarded and let it be celebrated while being recorded as if he/she had done a GREAT JOB (in short NO ONE CAN FORCE THE UNWILLING PERSON TO KEEP IT CLEAN UNTIL YOU MAKE THEM FEEL WHAT THEY ARE DOING WRONG ) 3. Rest of the promotion and publicity will done by the public only.

1)As compared to other cities the people of chandigarh are more realising and sensible. Just provide dustbins at every 100-150 mtrs. 2)At sector 17 please make provisions for urban eco-friendly public toilets, This will also make employment opportunities and motivate small scale industries. 3)Impose fines for public peeing and littering it will greatly demotivate "Ignorant" attitude.

To succeed in the dream project of our PM in making India a clean nation there are three main issues to be addressed. First is infrastructure, second maintenance of available infrastructure and three awareness of users and law enforcing agencies. I believe first issue is getting addressed with the push of all stakeholders. Second and third issues require a major push to maintain facilities and use it properly. Law enforcers must be educated on dos and dont's and it will help to educate all.
