I think lack of information to farmers if covered, then many ideas will come from ground itself.

Bio gas plants are already being subsidised but due to lack of awareness on how it is not only gas but generates organic Fertiliser in form of bio slurry is not known to all. Like in some states rain water harvesting has been made compulsory for large constructions, similarly bio gas should be made compulsory for large farmers to avail various subsidies which they enjoy/abuse. This will further strengthen cattle and livestock maintenance and can act as a catalyst for farmers to go organic. Going organic is a slow and painful process of 3 years. Waste recyclers and eventually common citizen to be made aware So that degradable waste do not end up in land fills but reach these bio gas plants. All large dairy farms are availing subsidies for dairy as well, they can be asked to install these bio gas systems as well. Hello everyone, What I suggest that is Fertilizers shouldn't be used at all. It will destroy the soil fertility. Now we may use it for huge production but after 20 years we'll have no soil for production at all.It's high time already. So we should stop using fertilizers and start shifting ourselves to the use of organic manure.

Myself Shivaraja Shetty working as Development Professional since 2011. I had got an opportunity to work with multiple NGOs and Corporates to work on various development areas like, governance, natural resource restoration, soil and water conservation, livelihood, health, education and livestock. Today discussion on fertilizer I wanted to throw some ideas which can definitely bring changes in farming sector which are very practical- 1. Nutrient management of soil: Please we need to make chemical fertilize availability on per acre or Hectare limit and encourage the farmers to go far applying Farm Yard Manure minimum quintals per acre on every crop and to ensure the same making mandatory to farmers to have minimum 2 livestock animals if he or she has 2.5 acres of land. This way both agriculture and its allied sector like livestock development will happens and which will yield improved fertility followed by improved productivity and ennhanced income.
