Personality development of students is quite important for making them employable. Such courses are still quite less and very shady in nature most of the times, with more focus on english diction. Government can make a syllabus for it (with world class HR companies) as well as a guideline to such institutes and make it easily available.

Government should hire a bright set of teachers who can watch various online material and government of India can then buy this material and put it up for free download by anyone who has an adhaar card number. Some may be paid courses also with a nominal fee. I am sure a lot of companies will be more than willing to produce good quality material if its for government. But the people who decide on the content need to be above board. So please hire fresh graduates who are least corrupt.

Each college should be asked ways and means to maximise utilisation of lab equipments and real estate. This way cost of government funded colleges will go down per person and government can ensure more students get taught. Also the rest of the hours can be filled with online courses which videos can be distributed by government to different students

There is a requirement of people who have done something in industry to teach students. For this government jobs can be created for industry people. To make them not very expensive one can have holiday days in companies as days on which these industry people will teach students. Government can ensure that they get lets say at least two holidays per week in the companies they work for and can teach practical courses

Government should Prepare a set of topics in consultation with the industry and survey people who pay taxes or at least file their tax returns about which are the topics which are most relevant for them in their job. This database if made correctly will tell us which skills and topics are most relevant for industry today. In the same survey one can ask which topics are most relevant for their future growth. This will give us some sense of future . but off course thats a far more difficult thing

We tend to shy from the economic benefit of education, e.g Student of history can get job as play writer , get job in archaeology department, besides subject it should be taught the job opportunities, Soft skills like negotiation, intelligence gathering in positive sense should be also taught, e.g professional students like medical , engineering, MBA student keep in touch with each other through out their life and get industry insider information, how things works,

In order to reduce the gap between education and industry, we should practice updating our educational curriculum at frequent interval. Every revision taking place in curriculum should include new industry adopted topics and let go with outdated topics. However, to do this we would need to have our teachers updated all the time. To enable this, every year a special session can be organized where industry persons would have direct discussion with the teachers and course committee regarding this.
