The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), in collaboration with MyGov, invites comments and suggestions from stakeholders and the general public on the draft accessibility standards for the Services Sector. These draft standards, which identify non-negotiable rules, have been prepared to strengthen the creation of barrier-free environments in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and relevant rules.

To uphold the dignity, autonomy, and independence of persons with disabilities by enabling equitable participation. To standardize service delivery mechanisms in accordance with accessibility norms.

These draft standards are formulated to establish non-negotiable requirements for the delivery of accessible, inclusive, and barrier-free services to persons with disabilities. They are grounded in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act), which mandates equal access, non-discrimination, and reasonable accommodation across all service domains.
