Nearly a decade and half has passed since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. Since then significant strides in global technology and information systems have placed the Indian economy on a trajectory of higher growth impacting the general populace and women, in particular in unique and different ways. The discourse on women’s empowerment has been gradually evolving over the last few decades, wherein paradigm shifts have occurred –from seeing women as mere recipients of welfare benefits to mainstreaming gender concerns and engaging them in the development process of the country. These changes have brought forth fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment while at the same time presenting new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems continue to hinder gender equality and holistic empowerment of women.

The policy envisions a society in which, women attain their full potential and are able to participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.

The broad objective of the policy is to create a conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

Make strict laws for office harassment. Legalise prostituition. Becoz it anyways happens and females since not under protection by law get exploited even more. Abused raped n they can go nowhere. Create better jobs n balanced economy overall. Subsidies or tax evasion or low interests in a group or organisation to start up, which has more than a fixed percentage of female employees employed in it. It will help low attrition rates of females n less harassments at work place.

All women employees working in medium and large scale companies and industries, must be provided with pick up and drop service from the doorstep of the house, irrespective of the company's performance. A lot of companies have withdrawn cab service, though they promise during campus recruitment. This is in turn spoiling the strategy of the employees, especially women.

Women are, by nature, hard working and very anxious about their children's well being and future. Since the head of the family often can not always support the whole family financialy and materially the womenfolks are compelled to share the burdens. They should be trained to take up other ventures, like, kitchen and backyard gardens, petty shops. Poulty and fisheries are good avenues for making an extra source of income to the family. The existing SHGs should be innovated with better strategies.

Providing equal rights with Men should be on priority. Where ever there is a mischif on women respective men should be given rigid punishment as in the case of Gulf countries- This values women in our country and to the entire world. Women are more powerful than men this is proven since Purana days, so let them not be as unuseful to this world. Their abilities should be valued and given equal importance. It is appreciable bill and it is kept for public voting, mine would be first YES.

Retired women from various departments like education, medicine, bank etc can extend their services to young women and children particularly in bring their career in education, employment, better life style, empowerment. In each district a nodal center can be formed to offer train the trainer program. Many retired women feel frustrated when they leave their services. At the same time in many places there is nobody to help young generation. Why don't we match these to sectors to bring up our society?

Women should have the rights. All governments promised reservation of 33% None could achieve it. Can Modi achieve? No because the male in his party will not allow it. What a Tragic Situation. While every one speaks of Female Freedom when it comes to reality, every one backs out. If Mr. Modi is a COURAGEOUS MAN he should bring forth the legislation in Parliament to reseve 50% seats for female.

All measures by government are aimed only towards young women. There is no protection whatsoever for old women. The government must create legislation for older women. There has been a recent spate of incidents where older women have been beaten up by daughter in laws like the Sangeeta Jain case from Bijnaur. What is the government doing to assure social security and dignity of such old women? 'Women empowerment' includes protection of old women too,not just wives and spouses.
