The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued draft rules to ensure ease of using drones in India on the basis of trust, self-certification, and non-intrusive monitoring. The Drone Rules, 2021, once notified, will supersede the UAS Rules, 2021, which came into force on March 12 this year.

The Rules aim to make the process of owning, possessing, exporting, importing, manufacturing, trading, leasing, operating, transferring, or maintaining a drone in India, simpler and hassle-free. For that, the draft rules seek to abolish the requirement of various approvals, ranging from certificate of conformance, certificate of maintenance, import clearance, to student remote pilot licences.

Besides, it proposes the development of drone corridors for cargo deliveries and a drone promotion council to be set up to facilitate a drone-friendly regulatory regime in the country.

Click here to view The draft of Draft Drone Rules, 2021, which is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

The last date of submission is August 5, 2021.

At the outset, I convey my appreciation of the gigantic work being done to this effect! My comments: Part III, Clause 10-General Safety: Will the identity tracing methodology be fool-proof? Will there be a Black-Box in each Drone; especially in higher tech / higher model units? Part IX Drone Traffic Management: The unmanned Drones may lead to chaotic situations. Form D1, Part-C: Please add "Safety Measures in the event of Drone failure". Best wishes. Jai Hind!

now we need a technology that we can install sensors around the boundaries of our house and it creates a some kind of emf barrier. whenever a drone comes in that area then it should alarm and drones automatically goes out of that zone. Those automated program should be mandatory in every drone or the drone company will have to answer. it should be a serious breach of privacy.

The best way to handle the situation of drones flying from unknown areas intruding our territory is to develop a technology which can intercept the 'drone controls' and then control the drone to neutralize it's activities. This is bit challenging but not impossible. We might have to do more of R&D for the same with the help of some experts. I know DRDO organization is capable of doing this impossible task. - Jai Hind.

Few suggestions that clicked to mind ... 1. There should be unique identifier assigned to every drone (like IMEI in mobile and it will be connected to authorised center from where it will be monitored for its activities in designated flying zone. Any violations, should have heavy fine for its misuse. 2.Each and every Drone should visible on controlling radar of authorising agency. Unathorized Drone should be bought down to ground 3. Strict ban on import of Drone unless registered with agency
