The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued draft rules to ensure ease of using drones in India on the basis of trust, self-certification, and non-intrusive monitoring. The Drone Rules, 2021, once notified, will supersede the UAS Rules, 2021, which came into force on March 12 this year.

The Rules aim to make the process of owning, possessing, exporting, importing, manufacturing, trading, leasing, operating, transferring, or maintaining a drone in India, simpler and hassle-free. For that, the draft rules seek to abolish the requirement of various approvals, ranging from certificate of conformance, certificate of maintenance, import clearance, to student remote pilot licences.

Besides, it proposes the development of drone corridors for cargo deliveries and a drone promotion council to be set up to facilitate a drone-friendly regulatory regime in the country.

Click here to view The draft of Draft Drone Rules, 2021, which is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

The last date of submission is August 5, 2021.

The Draft Drone Rules, 2021 aimed must be strictly followed and develop drone corridors for cargo deliveries, colour scheme to drones may be added cargo - green, medical - red etc. The draft seems quite positive and progressive, after implementing if any loopholes are found they can be corrected in less time. Security and privacy of citizens and nation should be top priority.

Respected Prime Minister, 1)Drones Having load-bearing capacity of 1 kg should be registered. 2)Drones having any two or more of the following: a)Load capacity of 1.5 kg b)Flight time of 30 minutes and more c)Range of over 7.5 km should be fitted with separate position trackers. Drones having all three should be fitted with an inbuilt kill switch. 3)Drones flying over high security areas should be shot down without repercussions Regards

Respected Sir/Madam While it may be appreciable on the part of the govt to seek public views about the formulation of the Drone Flying Rules, 2021 but it must always be kept in mind that the same should not construed as some kite flying. The national security must always rank number one and the govt should never ever imprudently leave open its Airspace for any reason whatsoever. Let it not, in the process, score a self goal more so when there is no dearth of Pro-Pak elements within country.
